Warren, Michigan is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan and is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The population was 20,539 at the 2010 census. It has been called "The Gun Country" for its gun industry and "The City with a Pistol". Warren was founded in 1824 by farmers seeking to protect themselves from Indian attack by building a fortification on their farmsteads. In 1845, Warren became an incorporated village when it amalgamated with other towns in Cass County near Battle Creek. In 1871, it became part of Washtenaw County when that county was created from parts of Wayne and Shiawassee counties. In 1901, Warren became a city when it annexed portions of nearby Birmingham. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2010, there were 20,539 people living in Warrentownships: 10,959 inside the city limits; 6,786 within unincorporated Cass Township; 1,711 in unincorporated Washtenaw Township; and 511 residents outside the cities limits (including those who live on farms).

Warren is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 97,819 at the 2010 census, making it the eleventh-largest city in Michigan and its thirteenth-largest metropolitan area. The city is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Combined Statistical Area, which has a population of 515,079 as of 2017. Warren is one of two cities in Wayne County with a population over 100,000 (the other being Dearborn).[2] The first settlement in what would become Warren was founded by Captain John St Clair on June 4, 1796,[3] when he and his three soldiers laid down roots along Lake Huron.[4] By 1800, there were 10 houses and 20 people living in what would become Warren. In 1802, Sir George William Jackson donated land to establish the town on what is now West Side Road east of downtown Detroit for $2 per acre (1/4 mile²). Jackson named the town after himself – "Jackson's Landing".[5][6] In 1824, Major General Peter Krantz built Fort Dearborn within limits set by Jackson;[7][8] this became the headquarters for allied forces during both world wars[9][10][11][12] before becoming an ammunition depot in 1945. In 1850s,[13] local farmers began to raise horses for competition in a horse race known as "The Grand Prix" that took place each fall at Saginaw Speedway on Woodward Avenue starting near Ford Field.[14][15] Racegoers could buy tickets from street vendors or purchase them from stewards who distributed them among those present onsite. As early as 1892 there was evidence that gambling had been occurring at Dearborn Heights although no prosecutions were instituted because it was considered legal under Michigan law at that time; however this activity did draw attention to Dearborn Heights and led to increased regulation by authorities throughout most of America during this period due to concerns about organized crime elements gaining access to illegal gaming profits laundered through American banks via international wire transfers.] In 1879,[16][17]:309 residents voted 3-to-1 not to annex Canada's Upper Peninsula into Michigan because they felt such an annexation would reduce their share of representation in Congress while increasing Lansing's influence over them;[18]:314 Little Rock Turnpike (later I-75) crossed upper peninsula boundary line just south of present day Warren northbound between Haggerty Street and White Marsh Road but southbound traffic stopped short due to lack of shoulders so turnpike designation changed from US 1E Butler Rd./Haggerty St., MICHIGAN TO WASHINGTON RD./White Marsh Rd., WASHINGTON RD./GORDON RD., SR 9WNW until October 1st 1959 when current I-75/US 14 Business concurrent with original Little Rock Turnpway designation change effective

Other businesses include The Glass House Brewery (owned by Anheuser Busch) which makes craft beer; AutoZone; and McDonald's restaurant chain from 1984 to 2006 across all three cities combined before moving affiliation to Allen Park in 2006 while keeping some locations open in Warren as well as Dearborn Heights & Bloomfield Hills. Additionally, there are several small businesses that dot the community such as a metal recycler called smithycrayon which recycles aluminum cans into new products; a gas station with convenience store on-site named Wright's GAS; a grocery store called Gourd City Market Place which provides fresh local produce items daily; an ice cream parlor called scoop 'n' scoop ice cream shop run by volunteers from local churches during summertime nears completion; and more recently an express laundry service also available through www.express laundrywarrenmi .com
