Warren is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and part of the Muskegon Heights area. It is located on the eastern edge of Muskegon County and on the southern edge of Wayne County. The population was 34,592 at the 2010 census,[1] making it the 14th-most populous city in Michigan and its second-largest after Detroit. In 1836, Warren became a town when it was annexed by Saginaw Township.[2] In 1870, Warren was platted as a village;[3] in 1875, it became an incorporated municipality; and in 1907, it became a city with a population of 606.[4] The first gun barrels made in Warren were made by John Fenton from ebony wood. He started making barrels for rifle bullets back in 1837. In 1840 he also started manufacturing cannonballs out of lead alloyed with arsenic to make them more deadly than stones or shot fired from bows and arrows. By 1850 there were over 100 Barrel Manufacturing businesses throughout Warren township alone![5][6][7]

Warren is a small town in the county of Mackinaw, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon–Houghton–Oakland, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Warren was named for George Warren, an early settler and one of the founders of Muskegon County. The first post office in Warren was established on March 3, 1837. A store and hotel were built there in 1838 by Capts John Hutton and James Fenton; they named it "Fenton's Hotel." In 1850, Mrs. Lillie Morse opened a boarding school there for girls; it became known as "Lillie Morse School" after her death in 1861). In 1872, Elisha Sibley opened a flour mill here which he continued to operate until his death in 1907. Mother Hubbard started a conventicleer girls' school here from 1886 to 1889 called "The Sisters' Home". In 1911, J.-P.'s Drug Store moved from its original location across Main Street from the post office to what is now its current building (now used as apartments). It would later become J-P's Hardware store which closed its doors in 1990 but reopened as an antique shop earlier this year with some new retail space inside while still remaining open as a restaurant/bar on First Avenue near Mackinaw Boulevard (and once occupied by Wagon Wheel Brewery). A number of businesses have been located throughout Warren over time: two grocery stores (J-P's Drug Store and Ruby’s), two restaurants (Mother Hubbard’s conventicleer Girls’ School operated out of our building from 1886-89 and then J-P’s HardwareStore), three hardware stores including J-P’s Hardware Store before it closed 1990 (the last one being reopening as an antique store earlier this year), four Masonic lodges including Lodge #1 which meets at Union Depot every second Wednesday night starting around 1870 until about 1910 when Lodge #2 took over but Meetings were held at various locations including Assembly Hall until finally meeting at Convention Hall where we meet again every other week currently; four auto mechanics shops: Two brought over from nearby Muskegon Heights during World War II when most parts needed were not available locally due to rationing and then again during the late 1970s when cars got much more expensive so mechanics had to find other ways to make money like outside job contracting etc., three beauty salons: A lady who sold hair products out her front window between 1916 & 1978 another who did makeup business next door between 1919 & 1981 also quit selling products 1982 - 1984 also another lady who operated out of her house between 1917 & 1981 also quit selling products 1985 - 1987 all three left THE BUSINESS WHEN SCHOOL BEGAN TO START AND SHE MOVED INTO HER OWN HOUSE 1980 - 1988Next door resides Darlene's Hair salon which has been operational since 1978 dealing mostly nails/toenails etc.; plus several residences back home that are used for storage or extra living space while mother Hubbard continues teaching lessons indoors each day
