Gun sights were first introduced in Troy, Michigan in 1858. At the time, firearms were not commonly owned by civilians and were instead used by the military. The firstgunsights that were designed specifically for use with pistols were designed by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and patented in 1858. In 1911, an improved version of the conte Improved Pistol Sight was developed and patented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and named after him, the Nicholas-Jacques Conte Pistol Sight II. This sight featured an illuminated reticle that could be seen even when the weapon was mounted on a dark surface such as a carpenter’s bench or table. In 1917, an improved version of theNicholas-Jacques Conte Pistol Sight III was developed and patented by Julius Schulte and named after him, The Julius Schulte Pistol Scope - also called TheSchulte Rifle Scope or simply TheScope. This sight features multi-coated glass lens technology that allows it to illuminate both dots at once so that shooters can see where their shots will land accurately regardless of light interference from other objects in their environment. The modern era of handgun sighting began in earnest with development of electronic sights in the early 1970s which allowed shooters to see their target without having to carry around an expensive optics system or use hand held equipment. Electronic sights are still common today but have been replaced by laser systems as they become more accurate and reliable than traditional red/green dot sights

Additionally, there are four private schools within walking distance: Oakland International Academy which offers PreKindergarten through 8th grade; American Creek Learning Center which provides prekindergarten through 12th grade; Indian Hills Christian School which offers K-8 school ages from PreKindergarten to 12th grades; Hector High School which offers 11-12 year olds.; Hudson Intermediate School serving grades 7th-8th league average students complete with Advanced Placement courses offered throughout the school year starting in September 2017 from 4TH - 8TH grades.) The Colt Model 1873 was introduced in 1873 and became popular due to its simple design, good accuracy, and firepower. The gun continued to be produced until 1907.
