Manufacturing has had a significant impact on local jobs and Economic Development since it brings new businesses into town and helps keep locals employed long term. There are several heritage-listed buildings within walking distance of either the high school or shopping center which include: Stroud House (1836), Pioneer Cemetery (1890), Hardin House (1910), Old Ford Factory (1914), Griggs Store (1920) and Joe’s Grocery Store(1930). Taylor also features several parks such as Legion Park (founded 1907) which offers picnics, playschools/daycare services for children, ball fields/courses for residents and visitors alike as well as an amphitheater complete with stage/pumps that can seat up to 500 people!

Taylor, Michigan is a small town in the east end of Peninsula County, Michigan. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. Taylor was platted in 1837 and became a borough in 1846. It became a city in 1907. The town was named for John Taylor who settled there in 1827. The first post office opened in 1836 and functioned until 1850. In 1847, the township of Taylor was organized and became part of Peninsula County. The county seat moved from Greenville to Taylor in 1861 due to growing population issues within Peninsula County and the lack of suitable land to build a new county seat on. In 1897, the federal government created Miamisburg Township as an area lying east of Grand Rapids that would be annexed into Detroit with its then-tenth municipality status because it had failed to meet certain population requirements set by the United States government for becoming a municipality. However, this effort failed when only 1/6th of residents approved annexation; making Miamisburg Township unauthorized by law and preventing it from joining Detroit proper until 1959 when it did so under charter legislation given by then-Mayor Coleman Young
Taylor, Michigan was a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States when it was first settled in 1837. The population was only about 100 people at the time. It grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s, with settlers arriving from all over the United States. By 1860, Taylor had a population of over 1,500 people. The town became an important stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War.
