In the early 1800s, Taylor was a small, rural town in Michigan. The population was only around 500 people and most of them lived on farms. There were no schools or hospitals in those days, so people had to rely on their own resources to take care of their own health and well-being. One of the few ways that these people could protect themselves was by using handguns as self-defense tools. In 1847, a man named John A. Taylor patented a holster design that allowed handguns to be carried without having to remove them from the person’s waistband. This innovation made it possible for people in rural areas like Taylor to use handguns as part of their personal protection arsenal, which they did for the rest of the 1800s. One of John A.Taylor’s sons, Hiram S., started manufacturing his father’s holster companies in Taylor in 1881. The company became one of the largest producers and sellers of handguns in America during the late 1800s and into the 1900s. In 1921, Hiram S.Taylor passed away but his son George continued production until his death in 1984. In 1896, the first concealed handgun permit was issued in Taylor when Harry Fenton obtained one from then- Sheriff John Herrington. In 1911, Holsterman became part of National Firearms Corporation and continued to produce handguns until its acquisition by Colt Industries Incorporated in 1934.

Taylor, Michigan is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan that is home to the University of Michigan and its main campus. The population was 2,835 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Taylor was George Stephenson in 1813. The town site was named after General John Taylor who fought in the American Revolution and was later Secretary of War under President James K. Polk. In 1834, Taylor became a county seat and it remained so until 1959 when it became a township within Dearborn County. Dearborn County was organized on November 3, 1824 from part of Wayne County which had been created from Muskegon Township following the Mexican-American War. It included all of what are now Flint Township (including present-day Taylor) as well as most of Oakland Township (now Macomb Township). On December 12, 1827, part of Wayne County including Macomb Township joined with Dearborn to form Wayne County again with its current boundaries including much of what are now Eaton and Warrentownships within Dearborn County as well as parts of Saginaw and Bay City Counties outside those boundaries. On February 14, 1898, residents of Lansing decided to secede fromMichigan because they did not feel they were being treated fairly by then Governor Jens Rasmussen. They formed their own government known as the Lansing People's Republic which lasted until November 1899 when Rasmussen restored statehood to Michigan. In 1956, Nixon announced he would seek re-election without taking any major steps towards improving education or jobs for citizens such as increasing funding for school districts. Detroit Mayor Jerome Crenshaw offered his support but Nixon refused due to his concerns about how Detroit could handle growing prosperity without more help from nearby towns likeTaylor. Cleveland Representative Bart Stupak also entered the race but withdrew before any votes were taken due to family considerations. On April 1st SNL aired an election special called "Nixon vs Crenshaw" during which Nixon attempted to explain why he declined endorsement from Crenshaw while also dismissing suggestions that he received unfair treatment during his campaign against Detroit Mayor Coleman Young: "I didn't get fair play - I got better play."

The town experienced some turbulence during its early years, due in part to its location on the border between two powerful militias: the Wolverine Regiment and the Detroit Militia. However, by 1830, Taylor had developed into an important commercial center with a growing population. By 1840, Taylor had also become home to one of Michigan’s first schools – Washington Elementary School. During World War II, Taylor served as an ammunition dumpsite for Clark County in northwestern Michigan. After the war ended, many residents left to return to their homes in other states; however, most of those who remained nucleus of what would become known as “Taylorism” – a social movement that supported socialism – until at least 1996. Today, Taylor is still an important community and cultural center with strong ties to its predecessor communities in Wayne and Macomb counties across northern Michigan

Taylor was founded in 1834 by John Taylor as a trading post on the Little Huron River. It became a town in 1847, and was renamed for General George Washington after the Battle of Yorktown. The town had a population of about 1,500 in 1860 when it was destroyed by fire.
