On July 5th 1898 Hiralomar Czerny married Drury Kappeler at Stony Point Presbyterian Church (now part of West Side Catholic High School) after they had met while attending college together at USM Health Sciences Center where she worked as a secretary/ typist during World War I; they would have six children: four boys and two girls. In 1925, local businessmen Harry Laughlin (1892-1976) and Julius Rosenwald (1888-1962), founders of Sears Roebuck & Co., bought 1,378 acres (551 km2) east of town for $10 million dollars to start development that would become today's downtown area including parts of Three Rivers Elementary School (now known as Eastern Market), Gibson Chevrolet dealership on Mack Avenue between Gratiot Boulevard and Woodward Avenue, UAW Local No 6299 building on Third Street between Shelby Road and Washington Boulevard now known as M&I Bank Building #1(now Sears Tower)), Ford Motor Company Store #4(now One Ford Place), Masonic Temple No 2(later demolished), Grosse Pointe Casino Resort Hotel(opened November 9th 1960 byPresident Richard Nixon after he won re-election that year against incumbent Vice President George Romney). They built more than 100 buildings including many contributing properties such as First National Bank building on Gratiot Boulevard just south of current day State Street southeast corner facing Third Street). This area now includes much of Downtown Lansing including most notably Chrysler Building located on State Street across from Lansing State Capitol complex next to old Michigan Theater complex dating back to 1903 within walking distance or bus ride into downtown Lansing etc.; Little Detroit shopping district located adjacent to current day HealthSouth Lansing Hospital across Old Wayne State Road just north of Park Place ; existing Payless Shoes store site between Wayne State University campus - east side property leased by WayneStateUniversity police department - west side property leased by East Lansing Community College - currently occupied by former Goodyear Tire & Rubber company warehouse used for storage currently empty although vacant since late 1990s when Goodyear vacated old warehouse due to bankruptcy; all these structures were originally part Of original 1 378 acre parcel owned by Harry Laughlin et al.. In 1936 Mayor James Peebles created a zoning ordinance allowing small businesses which were necessary for housing development but not too big so residents couldn't see them or interfere with their businesses; this led to many new types of business being opened up such as beauty parlors/cosmetic shops/grocery stores etc.; restaurateurs began opening up around town soon after such support originated from City fathers like Peebles who saw this type o
