The Gone With The Wind Festival began as a trade show held at Gosport Fairgrounds adjacent to south gate back when that was all there was between townspeople and farmers while they struck out into new areas trying to find oil resources during WWI era boom times; with later moved here from other parts across US due lack thereof variety or quality entertainment then available elsewhere so promoters came up with idea- went away for 3 weekends each year not too long ago & bring world’s top stars/actors/etc ups here (& give locals some much needed income)
