Luckily, early inventors knew about these problems (and others) and came up with a solution: fuse guns! By sandwiching lead bullets between two pieces of metal (like an old cannon barrel), you could create a powerful explosives charge that would detonate when it hit something – like someone’s head! This gave firearms designers the ability to shoot accurately at targets very close up, making them even more deadly than ever before! It was also this period that saw some really amazing advances in technology; for example, firearms began firing shells instead of just ball bearings so shells could travel further (this led to World War 1). But by the end of the 18th century things had begun to unravel again – technological progress stopped being able to keep up with military developments, leading eventually to World War 2…

Southgate is a small town in the Kalamazoo County, Michigan area. The population was 4,402 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights-Leland Township local government. Southgate has been home to what is now known as Southgate High School since 1892. The first settlers in what would become Southgate were John and Anna Cook who arrived in 1798 from Northern Ireland. They farmed a piece of land that they donated to the town trustees on December 20, 1802. In 1830, Isaac & Hannah White bought 640 acres (253 hectares) around present day Southgate for $5 per acre ($100). In 1835, James Compton purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) surrounding present day Southgate for $10 per acre ($160). This land included part of what is now Midland and parts of east Portage counties today including Leland Township and Isabella County. In 1836, the Town Board voted to name it "Southgate" after Major General David Dixon who served as Mayor from 1800-1801 and then as Lieutenant Colonel in the War of 1812. In 1840, John Stephenson moved his family into some of this new land which he had acquired from James Compton and set about building a Log Cabin community called Sandy Run which still stands today across from current day Midland High School. Unfortunately for Stephenson, due to bad weather conditions during winter months his cabin only lasted two years before it too was destroyed by natural decay or vandalism! The first schoolhouse in town was built by subscription on January 24th, 1892 when Mrs Gertrude Kapp donated a room from her home at 423 North Main Street which she also shared with her daughter Effie Kapp McLean who taught there until 1907 When Mrs McKinney offered to donate an additional classroom so that both girls could learn togetherMrs Kapp immediately agreed and gave Ms Mc Lean's old classroom over to South Gates Community Schools where it remains today! On November 10th 1896 Dr Wm Crampton donated 100 acres (40 hectares) northeast of present day Midland along with 180 feet (50 metres) banks of good soil on top which he had Experimental Farm located on his property north east corner Third street between Carpenter Rd/Hwy 44 & Hwy 2 south side First avenue thence west 1/2 mile past intersection of Carpenter Rd./Hwy 44 & Hwy 2 south side First Avenue thence northwest 1/4 mile past intersection of Carpenter Rd./Hwy 44 & Hwy 2 south side First Avenue; this donation became known as "Crampton's Ridge". The initial use for this tract may have been agricultural but more likely because much likeable rolling hills bordering Muskegon Lake There seemed potential for manufacturing utilizing nearby river valleys especially since Crampton owned significant amounts coal mined withinMuskegon Heights areaThis also aided development early in settlement process because transportation routes were easier to come by than traveling up Ironton Road or down Beltline Road
The town of Southgate, Michigan was founded in 1837. It was named for General James K. Polk, the 34th president of the United States. The town grew rapidly and by 1854 it had a population of over 500 people. By 1865, however, Southgate had shrunk to just 100 people due to the arrival of railroad construction. In 1876, the first local school opened in Southgate and by 1902 there were twelve schools in Southgate proper. In 1951, Southgate became a city and rapid growth ensued; by 1990 the city had a population of over 5,000 people. As more businesses moved intoSouthgate, crime rates began to increase until they reached levels that prompted then Mayor Dan Glickman to call for a police department with more resources. In 2003, Glickman announced plans to build a new downtown library which would be one of the largest in Michigan and would also include an arena for sports events. The project was completed in 2006 and now houses both the city hall as well as various businesses including restaurants and nightlife venues
