In 1847, Romulus Township in Leelanau County, Michigan was named for the city of Rome. The township became Romulus in 1868. In 1903, the City of Romulus merged with the Town of Romulus to form a new municipality. In 1907, the name of the town was changed back to Romulus and it remains that way today. The first scopes were erected in this township by Capt. John Fenton in 1848 and Capts. David Cockerill and Hiram Burt in 1850-1852. Captain Fenton's instruments were mounted on small trees near his home on US 20 south of present day Woodward Avenue; these scopes allowed farmers and otherateurs to view vast swathes of countryside without having to leave their homes. It should be noted that at this time there were no television or refrigerator antennas available to allow people living outside cities or towns access to video feeds from distant rural areas! In 1853-1854 Capts George Stephenson, Augustus DeWitt Clinton and John Dickey erected two telescopes on top of Mt Hood (now Mount Rushmore National Monument) just north of modern day Cadillac Lake; these scopes allowed residents within a few miles radius including those living on the east side of town as well as those situated west side along US 71 to view celestial objects up close for the first time! This also opened up new opportunities for tourism as people could now come down during daylight hours and take advantageof all the beautiful views while ogling anything might happen across the river! This type of telescope technology continued throughout America until about 1870 when advances in photography made such devices obsolete; however, some enthusiasts still used large Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes into the early 21st century! Some notable individuals who have contributed significantly to spotting scopes history include: Dr Louis Ager (Draco), Dr John Herschel (John Herschel Telescope), Alvan Gebhardt (Alvan Gebhardt Telescope), Dr Israel Abramowitz (Israel Abramowitz Telescope), Lt Colonel Charles Wainwright (Charles Wainwright telescope) and Mr Harry Northrup (Mr Harry Northrup Observatory).

Romulus is a small town in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 4,236 at the 2000 census. It is part of Macomb County. The Romulus post office was established in 1881, and ceased operations in 1964. The community owes its start to Lucius Arno, who came from Italy in 1837 and built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1846, he married Annabella Hallett and they moved to what is now Romulus proper. They had six children: John (1848-1924), Lillie (1850-1927), Lucius Jr. (1853-1947), Franklin Gentry (1857-1929) and Amelia Lucilla Hallett (1861-1945). After years of farming, lumbering and other businesses failed during the Panic of 1893, Arno decided to build a large mill on his land which would employ 100 people. He named it for himself – Romulus mills – but it soon became known as the most important business center on the lower peninsula due to its importance in transportation, education and industry. During World War II, Romulus served as an airfield for Bomber Command RAF; parts of the town were destroyed by bombing raids raids during that conflict. After the war ended, much of what remained Of Arno's mill was demolished to make way for housing developments; however, some remnants survive including a water tower still used today for cooling water needs by local businesses such as convenience stores and restaurants. In 1984, Romulus became home to one of America's first municipal light rail systems when trains began running between downtown Detroit and Midtown Romulus using trackage originally built through Macomb Township by Canadian Pacific Railroad

With thisscope, shooters could target at much longer ranges than ever before thanks to its improved accuracy.
One of the earliest scopes to be developed was the Leyden jar telescope. It was a simple, crude device that used a piece of glass that allowed Telescopic objects to be seen at a great distance. This type of telescope was very popular in Europe during the 16th century and early 17th century because it provided an excellent views over large areas of land.
