Gun hammer is a type of tool used in metalworking, particularly as a hammer. Gun hammers first appeared in Europe about 1400AD., but did not gain widespread popularity until the 1500s when European craftsmen began using them in larger quantities as part of their armoury programs. Gun hammers continued to grow in popularity throughout the 16th century thanks largely to technological advances that made them easier and faster to produce - notably the horse-drawn nailer (1550-1600) and hand saw (1475-1500). By 1600AD gun hammered nails had replaced hand hammered nails as the most common type of fastening device used in construction alone across all regions of Europe.* At this point there was clearly a clear distinction between hand hammering techniques - where nails are driven into hardwood by hand directly - vs gun hammering techniques which involve pounding nails into thin metal sheets by means of an arm or power tool called anvil*. Romulus is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the east bank of the Ottawa River. The population was 1,362 at the 2000 census. Romulus is part of Muskegon County and is northeast of Lansing. Roman named it after Romulus, an ancient Italic hero who was said to have founded Rome and led its first military campaigns against Germanicus and others in 476 BC. The town sprang up around a small stop on the Ontario Railroad in 1892, when some farmers bought land from the railroad company for themselves and their families. By 1900, businesses included a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, a post office, two churches (one Baptist), a garage, and three homes. In 1912-13, Romulus constructed a small brick school building which served as both local government center and community hall until it was destroyed by fire in 1939. In 1916-17, Romulus erected an impressive white marble statue of General George Armstrong Custer—the last Ulysses S Grant soldier to be killed in action—on top of Masonic Lodge #2 (now known as Union Hall). The resulting public outcry prompted Congress to pass the United States Constitution Amendments providing for voting rights for Native Americans; additionally, President Woodrow Wilson dedicated this structure as America's first national monument in 1921. In 1951-52 vintage cars were sold at auction at nearby Mallett's Motor Shop; among items sold were portions of four horse carriages used by Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter during his appeals career from 1927 through 1931; these vehicles had been stored since they were removed from use when Cushing's Garage closed down in 1945 adjacent to what is now Interstate 94 southbound between Washtenaw Avenue and US 41/48 northbound between I-94 exit 14A and 16B off Jct with US 12/14A near where I-94 splits into I-96W & I-294E about 6 miles west of Romulus on milepost Rd./Ilden Dr., see map below).
