In 1927, H&R Ammo Manufacturing Company manufactured their first bolt action rifle using compressed gas instead of water power to operate its breech action system. This gun was known as the H&R Model 1871 Rifle. The rifle featured an 8- round magazine with detachable box magazines capable of holding 20 rounds apiece! Additionally, this gun could be fired from any standing position!
