This was done to ensure that elections were held within the village rather than outside it like they were currently done on many other occasions. In 1925, Riverview became an unincorporated community again when it lost its status as a village due to lack of support from the government. In 1957, Riverview voters passed an ordinance establishing it as an open-air shopping center known as The Village at Valley View Mall (later renamed Spartanburg Mall). This mall would be one of the largest in Michigan and would remain open until 1998 when it closed due to redevelopment efforts by Snyder's group which included moving most of the businesses away from their original location and into new buildings nearer Interstate M-6 Bridge acrossriver on what is now known as Third Street South golf course between Lansing and Detroit neighborhoods popular for visiting while driving down I-M-6 bridges looking out over MSU campuses with views out over all four rivers including Huron Bay) Prior to this there had been no shopping center within RiverVIEW itself since before its incorporation date so shoppers coming from Lansing or other nearby cities needed either go out further east or drive all around town getting lost if they wanted something specific such as shoes/jewelry etc., making for long drives home or frustrated visits not worth it given today’s options! The future looks bright for this once struggling community with plans underway for much needed development including housing, job training facilities and even some retail space available soon allowing residents back inside their own homes again!

In 1832, the town had a population of seventy-five and was named for the river that ran through it. By 1840, the community had grown to one hundred people and was renamed after Lake Erie. Over time, Riverview grew into a small city with a population of two thousand by 1890. The city annexed neighboring towns in 1914 and 1915, becoming one of the largest cities in Michigan.
