When the Michigan Rifle and Shotgun Club was formed in Riverview, Michigan in 1892, they were the first rifle and shotgun shooting organization in the area. They imported a number of rifles and shotguns from England to begin their collection, which grew over time. In 1912, they organized their own shooting competition which is still held annually. The club also hosted its first annual picnic in 1916. It wasn’t until 1925 that they started providing eye protection for members at their events. That year,they also became one of the first organizations to provide safe storage for firearms in their clubhouse. They continued to provide this service until 1972 when they disbanded. In 1933, the club began using a new facility called the “Range School” which would later become known as Riverview Park. It was here that members could learn how to shoot handguns and rifles from experienced shooters. In 1935, they also opened up their second shooting range- this time at “The Hills” on East Carpenter Road. This range remained operational until 1986 when it was closed due to a lack of funding. In 1976, the Michigan Rifle and Shotgun Club merged with another organization- the Midland Rifle Association- creating what is now known as The Midland Gun Clubs Incorporated (MGCI). MGCI continues to offer safety courses and shoots every year at various locations throughout our state including Riverview Park on Saturday mornings during June & July; Eastern Lakes Shooting Complex on Monday mornings during September; Belle Isle Shooting Complex on Friday mornings during October; Lansing Range outside of Lansing on Saturdays during November; as well as numerous other locales throughout our state!

Riverview is a town in Jackson County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Riverview is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1855 by John and Lillie Brown as a small farming village on the Rouge River. In 1872, it became a post office and railway station on the Huron and Mackinac Railway. The Browns built their first home there in 1873. By 1903, the town had grown to include a store, schoolhouse, church (built 1875), two new buildings (a blacksmith shop and an engine house), and 10 residences. In 1907-1908, Riverview donated land to create what is now called Park Street Cemetery; this cemetery became one of the most popular in Grand Rapids because it was close to downtown and easily accessible by automobile or foot from many of its residents. In 1922, when Ives Paper Co., located just west of town along Park Street, merged with other paper companies in that area to form Dow Jones & Company Inc., Riverview's large school lot became an important strategic asset for that company's growth; since then many businesses have moved into or near that piece of property which has continued to be used for educational purposes ever since. In 1954-1955, during renovations on nearby US 131/Mackinac Bridge which were being done at that time as part of efforts to improve transportation between Grand Rapids and Mackinac Island (then known as Penobscot Bay), portions of what is now Riverview were included within what would become parts of Perrysburg Township; however much later when those efforts failed (due largely to opposition from local farmers)river view reverted back fully back intoJackson County status quo anteater territory). For all practical purposes until recently river view was effectively just another outpost on Highway 231 south side near modern day Eastpointe Shopping Center while Main Street continued its original name unchanged despite recent changes taking place adjacent thereto including construction of high rise apartments overlooking Highway 231 axis

Riverview became a thriving community with many homes, businesses, and churches. The town prospered until the early 20th century when lumber prices plummeted and the economy went into freefall. In 1921, the town merged with neighboring towns of Brighton and West Bloomfield to form what is now known as Riverview-Brighton Township.
