The history of the Riverview Rifle Club is a long and eventful one. The club was founded in 1892, and has been involved in many different aspects of firearms culture. In 1934, the club merged with the local rifle range to form the current Riverview Gun Club. The club currently operates two ranges - one on Court Street in downtown Riverview and another on Michigan Avenue in Midtown. The club also offers several classes for members, including NRA certified Marksmanship Training courses. One of the most important aspects of RiverVIEW’s firearms culture is its collection of guns and parts. This collection includes rifles dating back to 1892, as well as handguns and shotguns dating back to 1898. Some of this old gear still remains on hand today, while others have been donated or auctioned off off over the years. One highlight from our history is undoubtedly our incredibly rare examples of both Colt revolvers and Remington shotguns dating back to 1865!

In 1834, a revolver was invented and it became very popular soon after. It helped make shooting handguns much more efficient than using rifles or pistols.
Riverview is a census-designated place in the Town of Riverview, Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The community was established in 1892 as a small farming village on the Rouge River about north of today's city of Riverview. It grew rapidly during World War I because of its close proximity to war-related production facilities and its ability to ship goods by river. During World War II, there were large Ford plants in town and nearby Harlan Township; so much output from those factories caused demand for housing that homes became scarce. In 1958, after most of the Ridgway Arsenal closed down and employed few people inRiverview, development began near present day Interstate 94 and state Route 31 (now Gratiot Avenue). In 1974–1975, when portions ofMuskegon County were transferred to Wayne County, Riverview became part of that county's Muskegon Heights neighborhood. As with other neighborhoods within Muskegon Heights – such as Plymouth Park or Woodward Park –riverfront homes continued to be built even after their residents had left for other areas within Muskegon Heights or elsewhere in Wayne County. In recent years someLocal businesses have moved out into downtown Riverview while others continue to operate out west on Gratiot Avenue/I-94 corridor

The Riverview area of Michigan was first settled by the Potawatomi people in the early 1800s. The area became a part of the United States after the War of 1812. In 1827, the village of Riverview was founded on land that had been bought from another tribe by General James K. Polk. By 1830, a post office and store had been built and it remained in operation until 1859. The village declined during the 1840s because of problems with malaria and other diseases, but regained its popularity in the 1860s as a result of increased trade along Huron River. The population growth led to enlargement of the town and development of new businesses such as hotels, stores, churches, schools and mills. The town experienced several strikes during this time period but they were all successfully resolved without any loss to business or residents. In 1870, riverboats began ferrying passengers across the Huron River to Port Huron for trade purposes; this madeRiverview an important transportation center for southeastern Michigan and helped increase its importance as a commercial center. However, during World War II there was significant damage done to both buildings and infrastructure due to bomb bombardments; this led to many residents moving away fromriverview while some retained their homes through conversion into apartments or homes for military families. During most of this time period there was also little economic activity due to lack of available resources which caused social unrest among some elements withinthe community%. After World War II ended however, things began to improve with more job opportunities opening up in industry and government jobs becoming available for local citizens once again. Since then riverview has grown significantly with new development taking place in both residential areas (such as Old Town)and commercial corridors (such as Hudson Street). This growth has resulted in increased traffic congestion onHudson Street which affects both business owners who have Tolerence Drive conflicting with vehicular access while residents who live near Hwy 6 feel besieged by high-rise developments which are often impossibleto escape without being late for work or living beyond their means
In 1814, a group of men who had been living in the area known as Riverview started to build a cabin on the bank of the river. The first permanent home was built and named after George Washington, Jr. It was located on what is now Forest Avenue. In 1835, the community moved to their current location near State Street and James P. Ford Parkway. The following year, they hired a carpenter named John Nicolay to construct a large two-story log cabin with 11 rooms and an outhouse. It served as the town hall for many years until it burned down in 1927.
