The town grew rapidly after itsestablishment and by 1830 had a population of 350 residents. In 1836, Clinton became a village when it annexed part of neighboring Orion Township; this annexation created one ofMacomb's largest villages with more than 1,000 residents at its peak. In 1840–41, during Andrew Johnson's presidency as president of United States (1865–1889), Pontiac formed part of New Kent county (later Cook county) within Michigan Territory under US jurisdiction because Washington D C refused to recognize Kansas' admission into the Union as an independent country despite their shared border with Kansas City metropolitan area which bordered that territory geographically only 2 miles wide at its widest point.–Pontiac accordingly became one half sister city to Kansas City following that territory's admission into OKC on August 15th 1870 while still under US jurisdiction.–After Dodge City served as territorial capital from 1867 until it became Topeka on January 17th 1907 (following Douglas MacArthur's decision to establish Wichita Falls instead), Spokane finally replaced Flint as territorial capital effective February 14th 1907 due largely to Flint's political instability caused by interference from Topeka faction led by General John Wigham As late as 1924 there were no electric lights or water service available within Ironwood Heights limits without going outriver where Lansing Municipalelectric light company services were located which continued until 1933 when both companies merged forming Madison Electric Light Company operating out current day eastern edge Livingston Avenue between State Street & Saginaw Boulevard just south side Ionia Road
