Bullets have been a part of our lives since the beginning. Whether we’re talking about cannons, rifles or handguns, Bullets have always played an important role in human history. Pontiac is home to one of the most famous companies in the bullet business – Colt Firearms. Founded in 1881 by Edward Colt, this company manufactured a wide variety of firearms including pistols, revolvers and guns for hunting and self-defense. In 1899, Colt merged with Browning & Co., creating one of the largest ammunition companies in the world. Over time, Colt Firearms has made a significant impact on firearm design and manufacturing across America. Today, Colt still produces some of the most iconic firearms in the world such as police Beretta 92s and Ruger American 9mm Lugers. But bullets don’t just come from America – they come from all over the world! Bullet production began in Europe long before it ever reached America. In fact, several different types of bullet are used today that were developed specifically for use in cannons and rifles throughout Asia and Europe. While there are many different types of bullets available today (including NATO caliber bullets), some of Pontiac’s most famous rifle projectiles came from nearby Arsenal Ammunition Company. Located just east of town on State Street (now Gratiot Avenue), Arsenal was responsible for developing several popular calibers including 7x57mmR (which is also known as German rounds) and 8x57mmR (known as Japanese rounds). These rounds were later adapted to become Pontiac’s favorite projectile choice – their .45-70 Winchester cartridges! While Flintlock handguns didn’t gain popularity until after 1851 when they became standard issue with American troops overseas (and then only amongror officers), .45-70 Winchester handguns did actually become mainstream in North America around 1855 or so! This success likely owed much to Springfield Armory’s efforts to produce this type of handgun specifically for Americans rather than importing European guns which often had lower quality standards/compliances. It should be noted that while Flintlocks weren’t common until after 1851 (!), .45-70 Winchester handguns DID become mainstream starting around 1850 or so – which may account for why Pontiac has such a rich history associated with these weapons!

In 1836, when Act No. 38 of that year increased Michigan's voting districts, Pontiac became part of Muskegon County with other rural areas surrounding it like Grand Rapids and Detroit which then also became part of Michigan's enumerated citizenry through acts passed by Congress throughout its history (e.g., Constitution No 2, 1837). In 1881, upon statehood for Michigan, Pontiac reverted back to its original name; however since then it has been known primarily as an automotive center due to its large production facilities for Ford Motor Company products such as vans and pickups until recently when heavy industry closed down there following a decline in manufacturing within America overall but especially within Ford Motor Company products which has caused some loss for the city over time although retail sales continue to grow despite this trendline) . In 1830, Daniel Dennett erected a log cabin near what is now downtown Pontiac and started trading goods with other villages along the river east of Detroit In 1835–36, Amos Eaton opened an inn and tavern in present day Woodward Avenue which became known as "The Pavilion" because it offered free refreshments to visitors during summertime In 1837, George Stephenson donated land adjacent to his previous cabin for development into what would become downtown Pontiac By 1840, over 100 people lived in downtown Pontiac including 10 farmers and 60 mechanics who worked at local mills The first store was opened by Wm Hutton in 1840 In 1845, General John Prentice laid out a road from Detroit to Flint which passed through downtown Pontiac That same year sawthe opening of the first post office in Pontaic when Drury Storeman established an antecedent office on Fourth Street near Third Avenue Business slowly declined during the mid 1800s due to high transportation costs associated with connecting production centers outside of Lansing with customers within our town until prohibition caused business decline around 1925 When World War II began aluminum prices increased resulting in increased demand for military vehicles manufacturing shifted away from rural areas towards metropolitan areas throughout America During postwar years we experienced rapid growth due to post-war baby boomer migration becoming homeowners starting businesses such as restaurants trucking services grocery stores catering cars
Pontiac began as a small community in Wayne County, Michigan. The first settler, John Nicholson, built a log cabin in 1807. By 1840, the town had grown to include 486 residents. Pontiac was named for General George Armstrong Custer and his unit of the 1st Cavalry Regiment during the Mexican-American War. The city was incorporated on December 5, 1849. In 1865, it became part of Detroit and was renamed Pontiac after its founder. In 1932, Pontiac became the capital of Macomb County and remains its county seat today.
