It is little known that airguns have a long and varied history in the Pontiac area. The first firearms to be used with airguns were pistols, which were fired from an armory or outdoor range using shot pouches or a shotgun bailer. It was not until 1892 that handguns were introduced with air guns as their projectiles, and this was done by John Sauer of Detroit. In 1906, the first police officer in Pontiac, Michigan was shooting an automatic pistol with a “bullet” type cartridge from his shoulder holster using an old Thompson gun action. This early use of airguns by law enforcement officers setting the tone for future firearm usage by civilians across the United States. In 1938, Eddy Stoner of Flint Hills, Kansas introduced the worlds first truly self-loading rifle capable of firing pellets through a barrel having multiple projectile holes drilled into it called the Stoner Gun (later renamed Winchester Arms). These developments led to greater accuracy potential when using airguns as weapons systems; though still limited to target shooting at short ranges (< 20 yards), they soon became popular for hunting small game such as ducks and goose even out at long ranges (> 100 yards). Developments like this made Airgunry one of America’s top hobbies during WWII! During WWII there were several attempts by government officials to regulate/control firearms ownership within the United States; all fruitless efforts due to lack of common understanding between publically available data on firearms ownership and actual firearmusage within specific neighborhoods/communities where these regulations would be effective in maintaining order while combatting Axis aggression. However post-war American civilian demand for higher power muzzleloaders kept firearms production alive throughout most of 1945 aside from some wartime shortages due primarily to importation quotas established following Japan's surrender). Ironically enough anti-airgun sentiment increased shortly after Victory Day as memories returnedof high casualties caused by indiscriminate gunfire during World War II – something often blamed squarely upon Axis forces who had committekular mass shootings without consequence or consequence beyond individual death & destruction wrought upon innocent civilians.. After World War II ended there was continued interest in indoor target shoots due largely to advances in electronic sighting devices allowing shooters To hit targets at great distances indoors without ever leaving their living quarters even if they are outside during daylight hours! Non-automatic pistols like revolvers began becoming less popular among shooters thanks mostly to availability & affordability of semiautomatic handgunsocker style carbines such as Remington 870s chambered in .22 LR & .25 ACP (introduced around 1960) making them more accurate than older manual actions – though still limited range compared against modern bolt action rifles chambered in larger caliber bullets like 300 AAC&magnum etc.). Shotguns continued being widely used both recreationally & commercially throughout much of the late 20th century continuing into the 21st century albeit somewhat diminished popularity overall due mainlyto technological advancements leading increasingly towards centerfire cartridges (.50 BMG thru .70 S&W) whichcause much more collateral damage when fired from close quarters than smaller caliber rounds like those foundin traditional shotgun shells.)
