Owosso, Michigan is a town of about 8,000 people located in the northern part of the state of Michigan. The town was founded in 1836 by Captain John Saginaw and his wife Margaret. At that time, it was an agricultural community with smallpox fears being the main concern. In 1868, when Owosso became a city, its first mayor was Charles Fenton. The town's rich history comes from its firearm manufacturers who have been producing firearms for over 125 years now. These manufacturers include Colt Firearms Company (founded 1857), Remington Arms Company (founded 1872), and Winchester Repeating Arms Company (founded 1886). Owosso is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming Metropolitan Statistical Area. Owosso is located on the eastern border of Oscoda Township and Grand Rapids County. The first settlement in what became Owosso was by French troops during the Seven Years' War in 1754, when they built a trading post on an island near present-day Owosso Lake. In 1812, General Anthony Wayne's army burned down the trading post and forced all but three of the occupants to flee to Canada. The area that now includes Owosso was platted as part of Grand Rapids County on July 4, 1824, under a charter from US President James Kieft. On March 16, 1827, a school house and Methodist church were erected within two miles (3 km) of where present-day Inkster Elementary School stands today; this early educational effort helped get settlers interested in farming around here instead ofcommerce or fishing." Population growth throughout much of Michigan during slavery meant there wasn't enough land for everyone and so many families left Africa for America before emancipation could occur – some reaching Owosso by boats with only their clothes on their backs before finally landing at Fort Kent Landing on the Rouge River about four miles (6 km) northwest of town limits on September 12th, 1863 baptismal list shows 11 Africans baptized including 5 children age 3 through 11 year old named Ebeneezer Cooks who arrived November 7th aboard ship "John Brown" bound for New Orleans The first store opened up right next door to current day Inkster Elementary School which served as both local grocery store and blacksmith shop until 1951 when it closed because it was run out of money by itsowner Mrs BASILEA GRAYELLS after her husband died suddenly leaving her with 6 kids to take care Of….the store continued operating as a general merchandise store until 1971 when it closed again due to lack/mismanagement by new owner Mrs HARVEY JONES who also sold ice cream from truck out front…..the building still stands vacant today across from inkster elementary school though not used anymore… In 1969 residents organized themselves into what is currently known as "Theowoso Citizens Association" which helped maintain civic engagement within the community while providing social services such as nutrition programs feeding people living below poverty line etcetera In 1976 then Mayor EDWARD WOODRUFF established an education fund which helps defray costs associated with sending owoso students to better schools outside our town limits

However, Owosose's economy began to decline after the war ended and social problems emerged such as high levels of drug abuse and alcoholism. Since the late 1990s, Owosso has seen significant growth with new development including a new high school and shopping mall.
