Owosso, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Osceola County. The population was 25,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wolverine Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first binoculars were developed by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795 and made from lensed glass with a perforated metal frame. In 1812, George Stephenson invented what is now known as the Stephenson wheelbarrow which allowed farmers to transport goods over long distances without having to visit cities or carry heavy crates of goods on their backs. In 1917, Owosso became an incorporated municipality.

Abram had many successful business ventures during his lifetime including owning three mills which manufactured flour, cloths, and other items for local markets In 1954, following changes throughout Michigan caused by Act 114 of that year (the "Municipal Vital Statistics Amendment Act"), the name of all towns in Wayne County were changed from Township to Village unless they objected to being so renamed or until their incorporations had been completed; however, there were no such objections made by Abram Owosose's town of Owosso. The reason given for this change was that "Villages are becoming more numerous than Townships" due primarily to population growth within villages due to agricultural improvements made there as part of village incorporation drives dating back at least to 1903 On October 15th 1951 township supervisors met informally at township hall where they adopted resolutions calling for changing the name of Warsaw Township from Warsaw Borough (township) to Oswosson Township because they felt it would be more accurate since OWOSSO stands for "Old World Oasis Springs". Thereafter on October 16th 1951 formal proceedings began under section 3(a)(3) of the Municipal Vital Statistics Amendment Act which provided that all meetings held pursuant to this subsection must be recorded stenographically; minutes were taken at each meeting subject thereto

The first European to visit what is now Owosso was Captain John Silliman in 1799. He named the location "Washtenaw" after his home state of Virginia. In 1824, General James Kcody moved his army from Detroit to take possession of Washtenaw County and renamed it Owosso County after himself and the nearby creek which he called "Kcody's River". In 1827, General Ambrose Ewing founded the first Methodist Church in this county. In 1836, Colonel Nathaniel Lyon donated land for a courthouse and jail near present-day Owosso on the banks of Kcody's River. The town was platted in 1837 by Jno. Burtz with plat number 514 (now 4th Street). A post office was established at Owosso in 1840; it remained open until 1865 when it became a railroad station. At that time there were only three buildings in town - one store, one hotel and two churches - all built before 1850s or so when larger towns began to form around them across area including Ann Arbor In 1849, Isaac Hubbard organized a wagon train carrying goods throughOWOSSO Mines Road into faraway Green Bay but never made it past Fort Wayne due to Indians raiding their trains In 1862, during the American Civil War, Confederate Major General Earl Van Dorn attacked and destroyed an Union military camp near present-day Mount Pleasant just east of owosso while Union troops were deployed against him there The site still stands today as a prominent landmark located about 1 mile east of US Highway 12 south of Mount Pleasant
