This resulted in lawsuits between WEA and Savage until 1988 when both companies reached an agreement under which Savage would provide “universal” Dovetail mounts for all their rifles[4], allowing users of other brands of rifles To Use Weavers-Style Mounts With Their Own Barrels without having to go through Durable Goods Corporation (DGC) - who manufactured Savage's barrels - or purchase special adapters [5]. Bravo! That was probably one less thing I had to worry about when I started buying firearms!
