After the war,Oak Park declined slightly until 1960 when it regained most of its previous size with the construction of Interstate 94 in nearby Dearborn Heights. Today, Oak Park is a small community with a population under 10,000 people located close to downtown Detroit. Its biggest attraction is its rich history which has been preserved through various museums and libraries located throughout the village.
