Doehringer had also purchased about 530 acres (1 km²) around present-day Ann Arbor from Davenport four years earlier for $10 per acre ($160 + $9 taxes). The town plat that same year included streets leading east/west between Main Street (now Schoolcraft Avenue) northward to Hermitage Road eastward to Wabash Avenue; main thoroughfares ran northwest/southeast while side streets ran northeast/southwest.
