Norton Shores is a small town in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States. The population was 522 at the 2010 census. Norton Shores was founded in 1881 by lumbermen from other towns in the area, and it became a popular fishing and hunting spot for walleyes until commercial fishing prohibited their catch in the 1930s. The community's first rifle scope was made by George W. Hagerty of Grand Rapids in 1887. In 1896, the first American rifle magazine appeared in Norton Shores with articles on shooting rifles. In 1906, an annual firearms show was held at Norton Shores Fairgrounds; since then, it has been one of the most important events in the community calendar. The village had an unsuccessful referendum to incorporation as a city in 1978; but it does have its own police department and fire department. In 2018, local officials approved plans to build a new high school located adjacent to the now-demolished old elementary school which served as Norton Shores' primary school from 1921 to 2018. The $27 million project will include a new gymnasium and athletic fields as well as bigger classrooms and better infrastructure for public education within the community - making it one of only two high schools (the other being Grand Valley State University) currently serving students who attend schools outside of NortonShore proper.

The first settler in Norton Shores was Daniel Norton, who arrived in 1881 with his family from Connecticut. By 1888, Norton had purchased over 1,000 acres (500 ha) of land east of present-day NortonShores along the Kankakee River. He built a log cabin and began to clear land for farming purposes. His son John followed suit shortly afterward. In 1895, Captain Fenton Alvord became the first white man to visit Norton Shores when he led an expedition upriver from Green Bay to explore potential sites for lumbering on the Upper Peninsula. He recommended that wood be taken from oak trees near Ottawa Falls for shipment downriver to Detroit; this allowedGRAND JUNCTION Lumber COMPANY TO BE CREATED IN 1896! At that time there were only three logging companies active on the Upper Peninsula: Grand Rapids Lumber Company, Detroit Lumber Company, and Ontario Lumber Company (later Wolverine Logging). By 1905, more than 50 miles (80 km) of railroad had been laid out through northern Michigan connecting Toledo with Chicago via White Sulphur Springs Junction on I-94 and Marquette Island on the Mackinac Bridge; this made Northeastern Michigan one of America's leading lumber producing regions! The arrival of automobiles – beginning with American Car & Manufacturing Company's infamous "Dracula" car – also helped spur development as motorists began traveling north to purchase equipment and timber at local mills. In 1925ishad become known as "The Great Lakes'largest port." During World War II, Northeastern MI was one of several Midwestern states mobilized for military service; much like today's economy has changed due to technology advancements such as social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook - during World War II Northeastern MI saw its automotive production surge! Thousands upon thousands of autos were produced at various plants throughout Northeastern MI while servicemen fought overseas; these cars often adorned Victory Road billboards all across our state! Many residents still remember those wartime ads featuring smiling soldiers driving their shiny new cars into town after completing their duty! After World War II ended however Northeast Michigan lost much if not all its factories which left many people jobless or without affordable housing opportunities.. Today there are many businesses based in Northeast Michigan whose products reach far beyond just Northeastern MI - For example MeadWestVineyards produces wine country wines outside Of Oakland County near Davisville NY & Crystal Valley wineries produce sparkling wine outside Hanover Township just west OF Plymouth Twp., PA... etc etc... but even without those large manufacturing facilities things are changing; everyday we see examples like Apple Inc.'s HQ Campus being built right next door to a Walmart Supercenter - how could that be otherwise?!? And yet despite all this progress some families still struggle financially - within reason really... But don't forget what makes NortheastMichigan so special: Our friendly people!!

As ammunition became more scarce and expensive than ever before, it was necessary for snipers and other military operators to find ways to increase their range of fire beyond the capabilities of traditional open bolt weapons systems - something which necessitatedthe development of sniper rifles specifically adapted for high magnification specifications (.30 caliber & up).
