The first settler in Norton Shores was John Nicholson who arrived around 1800 from England. He founded a store and post office in what is now the downtown core of Norton Shores. The community was named for Horace Greeley, an American newspapersman and politician who served as Governor of New York from 1855 to 1861. In 1892, the first school in Norton Shores was built on land donated by Mrs. Anna GildersleeveMoore. It served grades one through twelve until it closed in 1956 due to budget cuts within the Washtenaw County School Districts which were then merged into the Wayne Township School Districts with similar budget cuts that year in neighboring Dearborn Heights which also closed its schools that year. A new school building was constructed on land donated by Mrs. Mildred Atherton during her tenure as Superintendent of Schools for Washtenaw County from 1951-1957; it served grades K-8 until it closed due to low enrollment following World War II when most children living within commuting distance to Greater Detroit were sent there instead In 1957, a consolidated elementary/middle school district (Washtenaw Valley) opened under Superintendent Harry Fitch with students from both township and village schools serving together in single classrooms inside three large buildings on Main Street; that district's last class graduated in 1984 In 2006, plans were put forth for a new high school campus adjacent to the old physical plant off First Street although no construction has yet taken place A proposed development called North Shore would include an apartment complex and学校前の街に狭くてない広土地があるとしています

Norton Shores, Michigan is a town located in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, on the shore of Lake Michigan. The population was 2,623 at the 2010 census. Norton Shores was founded in 1837 as a small community on the western edge of what is now Eastern Detroit Township by Danish immigrants who arrived to farm and fish in what is now Northwestern Wayne County. The first school was established in 1840. The town's economy changed when the Canadian Pacific Railway built its line through Eastern Detroit Township in 1855 and began shipping coal from that area to Quincy, Illinois. Norton Shores became one of the railroad's largest users, with an industrial complex constructed around 1850 that included a foundry, shipyard, smelter, sawmill, flour mill and two churches. The town also developed a significant seafood industry with catches including flounder, salmon and whitefish. In 1916–17 construction began on Great Lakes hydropower plant at Norton Shores which provided power for industry until its closure in 1978. The post-World War II boom period for Norton Shores started with growth in automotive manufacturing during World War II but ended quickly due to competition from other parts of Michigan; however much economic activity still took place throughout the township into the early 21st century despite some reductions seen in workforce size over this time period as modernization strategies filtered through larger metropolitan areas such as Detroit or Chicago
Norton Shores was founded in 1872 by George Norton and his wife, Sarah. It was named for George Norton's father, who had also founded the town. The first post office at Norton Shores was established in 1875. The population of Norton Shores increased from about 100 people in 1850 to more than 2,000 by 1880. In 1912, a bridge over the Straits of Mackinac became necessary due to increasing navigation traffic. The first concrete construction in Norton Shores took place in 1915. By 1920, the population of Norton Shores had reached 5,000 people and it grew even further to 10,000 by 1930. In 1945, the first school opened in Norton Shores. It was called the Methodist Episcopal School and it closed in 1951 due to budget cuts. In 1962, a new high school was built north of downtown to serve the community better. It was renamed Michigan State University High School after MSU's opening as a university in 1964.
