This was followed by other municipalities throughout the state over the next few years. The process of becoming a licensed gun owner began with an initial application and then underwent an annual review. In 1879, the Michigan General Assembly passed a bill that provided for a staggered schedule for increasing the number of licenses issued each year. With this new system in place, handgun owners would not have had their licenses expire on short notice like they did before. The following year saw another change to the licensing process when Jimmie Lee Jackson became governor of Michigan. Under Jackson’s rule, applicants were no longer required to provide proof of citizenship or residence in order to apply for licensure. Instead, they simply needed to present evidence that they knew how to use firearms effectively. This change led to more people being able to own firearms and safe them away from harm should someone else try to misuse them. At one point, cannon barrels were so big that they hadto be transported in large crates along with other munitions

Niles, Michigan is a small town in the state of Michigan. The population was 1,643 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming metropolitan area. The town has a long and proud history dating back to 1851 when it was named for George Niles, an early settler. The name comes from the French word nile meaning "river" and le ville meaning "town". George Niles' father, Solomon Niles, had been born in what is now Hastings County in 1784 and died there in 1847. When Solomon Niles' grandson, George Washington Niles Jr., moved to what is now Niles after his father's death in 1828, he continued to use the original spelling of the town's name -George-Nile'sville until his own death in 1853. In 1876, John A. Cook opened up a grocery store on Main Street near where present-day Springbrook Cemetery stands today. In 1886, Washburn Brewery began production here with its first beer – Chief Blanco – produced by hand from local barley maltzaels. The brewery closedowns around 1990 but its legacy continues through numerous businesses that have operated here over the years: First National Bank (now ING Direct), Wawa (now QFC), BJ’s Restaurants (formerly Carl’s Jr.), Lakeshore Community College (now Wayne State University), and many more! Today visitors can find shops and restaurants including several Indian restaurants as well as three pizza places; Smashburger & More(formerly Papa John’s Pizza), Dearborn Market(formerly IHOP) and Just Pizza( formerly Dominoes). There are also two movie theaters - one at Eastern Michigan University Stadium which screens major Hollywood releases as well as independent films - while several banks offer banking services such as Wells Fargo & Co., Midwestern Union bank etc.. Additionally, there are several parks located throughout town including Forest Park which contains a campground/picnic ground/boat launch/, Plymouth Square which includes a large outdoor rink/pumpkin maze/, Hefty Store Park (), Hazelmere Park () featuring forested acres for sports activities (), Wrightstown Playing Fields () which offers baseball and softball games(), Myer Children’s Museum (), Five Points Shopping Center (), as well as two lakes – one for fishing (+/- 15 miles)and one containing playground equipment ().

Niles, Michigan was founded on April 15, 1837, by George Niles and his wife Elizabeth. The town became a post office in 1839. In 1860, the population of Niles was 2,644. By 1870, the population had grown to 4,614 and by 1880 it had reached 6,968. In 1888, Niles became a city. The population of Niles reached 10,000 in 1910 and 12,500 in 1920. The city limits were increased to include all of Dearborn County in 1928 and to encompass all of Wayne County in 1933. In 1945 the City of Detroit annexed most of what is now Niles Township as part of its metropolitan area. On January 1st 1954 the City of Detroit merged with the Township to form one large city called Detroit-Dearborn-Winder which continues to be divided between Dearborn and Wayne counties today. George Niles played an important role in both the founding and development of Niles as a townspeople donated land for a courthouse and schoolhouse; he also supplied labor for local mills during this time period (See below). After years of hard work from many people within their community including George's son Ralph Ayer who operated a sawmill along with other small businesses right up until World War II; after that time things slowed down considerably as people started working at factories or outside jobs during those years because there wasn't really much demand for workers here given how difficult it was back then to get money out there especially when you did have money like they did back then... glue Manufacturers having particular difficulty getting dollars off their chests due to rationing however over time more people began moving into town due various things such as easier access to education/employment opportunities than existed before so even though business conditions have changed quite bit over these years it has been gradually slowly but surely maintaining some level off growth even through tough times
Niles Township was organized in 1837 when the Michigan Territory was created. The township is named after General Niles, who fought in the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
