In the 1920s, Automotive Manufacturing Company (AMD) manufactured and sold cars and trucks in Muskegon. AMD produced a number of different models including the Nash-Keegan, Ventura, and Pinto. In 1925, AMD partnered with Wabash National Corporation to produce a new type of automotive engine known as the “Wabash V-8”. This engine was designed for use in luxury cars such as the Cadillac Series 58 and Hudson Hawk. During these years, Durant Motor Vehicles Incorporated also developed within DETROIT DIESEL CORPORATION. Durant Motor Vehicles Incorporated was responsible for developing both passenger cars and truck designs throughout 1922 – 1949 inclusive. These designs included both large volume vehicles such as pickups and vans along with smaller volume vehicles like sedans and coupes. In 1948 – 1949 (during AMERICAN MOTORS COOPERATIVE), Durant Motor Vehicles Incorporated became part of United Motors Corporation (UMC). UMC is responsible for building some of our most well known brands including Ford Motor Company (FORD), Chevrolet/Chevrolet Trucks Company (CHEVROLET), GMC Truck & Bus Lines Inc., Cummins Engine Co., American Mercury Service Company (AMERICAN MUTUAL SERVICE COMPANY) among others1 . At UMCC, Durant Motor Vehicles Incorporated rebranded themselves as THE LINCOLN DAVID PATRIOT MOTORCARS COMPANY2 . THIS WAS A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE FOR THE ENTIRE AUTOMotive INDUSTRY AS THIS WAS THEIR LAST NAME BEFORE THEY BEHINDED UNITED MOTORS COOPERATIVE AND WERE MORE OF A GENERAL PRODUCT LINE OFFering MANUFACTURING SERVICES TO ALL TYPE OF AUTOMobiles3 .

Muskegon is a small city in the Michigan Panhandle, United States. The population was 43,021 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Muskegon County. The name Muskegon comes from the band of Potawatomi Indians who lived there before white settlers arrived in 1810. The first settler in Muskegon Township was John Houghton, who built a cabin on what is now First Street in 1829. By 1830, Muskegon had a population of about 25 people. In 1837, George Stephenson built the first steamboat on the Great Lakes and named it "Muskegon". In 1840, he bought land at what is now Third Avenue and Third Street for $811. He erected a log cabin there and started to sell goods to passengers on his boat. This early business model still survives in Muskegon today as Water Taxi Tours operates out of one of Stephenson's original buildings on Third Avenue – which has since been demolished but remains visible from Second Street). During this time, Muskegon also became known as the "City of Industry" because many mills were located there including Stephenson's own J & L Mills (later renamed Massey-Harris) and Wabash Iron Works (now Consol Energy). The town experienced its biggest growth during World War II when production by General Motors plants increased significantly due to wartime demand for munitions. Businesses such as Chevrolet dealerships and tire stores continued to grow after Pearl Harbor; however, muskets and other guns began becoming more popular among civilians for protection purposes following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941. Consequently, manufacturing decreased overall until only two GM plants remained open by 1945 – both closed within five years of their establishment due to technological advances that made firearms much easier to manufacture than prior generations In 1961, statehood was granted to Muskegon County; however local control over government affairs continued until 1988 when an act was passed granting full gubernatorial power to the county government under then Governor David Blitzer After Gov Blitzer left office in 1992 following term limits set by Michigan Constitution Article IV section 5(a), local control re-appeared with then Mayor Tom Barrett taking office effective January 1st 1994 until his resignation effective March 31st 1997 citing differences with then Comptroller Dave Koehler over policy decisions that took place during mayor Barrett's time as mayor - most notably decisions not involveed with water quality or development initiatives . On May 10th 1998 ballot results showed incumbent Mayor Tom Barrett being re-elected unopposed despite allegations that he accepted bribes from developers seeking tax breaks from City Hall . On November 3rd 2000 mayoral election resulted in former comptroller Dave Koehler defeating incumbent Mayor Tom Barrett by 2 percentage points via mail ballot
