One of the earliest and most popular target holders in Mount Pleasant was a large, metal frame that sat on two posts near the middle of the school’s playground. In the late 1800s, these Target Holder attachments started being made out of wood and metal. Mount Pleasant is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids-Mt Pleasant Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Mount Pleasant was John Purdy in 1807, and by 1810, he had organized a local militia to protect settlers from Native Americans. In 1830, when Michigan became a state, Mount Pleasant incorporated as a village and changed its name to "Mount Pleasant." In 1837, George Washington Carver arrived in Mount Pleasant with his family and began farming land around present-day Cadillac. He named one of his crops "carver's sugar" because it was so sweet that cane could be grown without irrigation or pests (a characteristic for which Cadillac is still noted). In 1840, Carver became an incorporator of the Village of Mount pleasant and continued to farm there until his death in 1865. In 1846, James Kapp created a small town on the east side of Mtpleasant Creek near what is now Cedar Point Park after moving from Detroit with his wife Cilla to start anew following her brother's death during the Mexican American War and her husband's suspension from Congress for supporting Mexico. That same year also saw the founding of Mtpleasant Township by Kapp and others who were dissatisfied with Kapp's original township plan that centralized all activity within Cedar Point Park boundaries instead of developing it as an independent community like those acrossriver at Saginaw Bayou (then called Ottawa) where they would haveAvgve rived pi$$$ngers free access to resources while limiting theirini$ts t0 th3 eIects o f iNdividualism b4th3r indiviDals c3ntinuous l3lll 3g3rates fur th3ir villages). By 1850, most residents living east o£ MOUNT PLEASANT had relocated westward into Ottawa Township along Illingworth Road where they formed another small town known today as Garden City (the name given t0 Ottawa Township when it merged into Eaton County in 1898). What followed over ensuing decades was one continuous migration/settlement pattern whereby people from eastern Lansing moved westward towards Mtpleasant Creek through Ottawa Township until all but about 5% of present day Mount Pleasant residents reside here today; most notably due tO THE GREAT WHITE FIRE OF 1908 which destroyed much buildings including much residences adjacent t0 Cedar Point Park & creek mouth - resulting Into A DEMOCRATIC NIGHTMARE!

In 1834, a railroad was built through the town and it quickly became an important link between Detroit andMount Pleasant. By 1840, Mount Pleasant had become an important agricultural center with over 50 farms producing hay, barley, apples, potatoes, eggs and other vegetables. By 1850, some 2200 people lived in Mountpleasant with businesses such as stores, hotels and residences dotting the landscape. The population had increased so much that by 1861 they had created their own township which would continue functioning until it was dissolved by state legislation in 1927. During World War II (1939-1945), many residents of Mountpleasant volunteered their services to serve their country; however when war broke out they were forced to leave their homes due to rationing of food items which affected everyone equally regardless of occupation or income level. One resident of Mountpleasant who took advantage of this situation was Mrs Mae Hines who managed her home while her husband worked overseas; she cooked all meals for her family using ingredients she found on sale at local grocery stores. After the war ended she returned home but faced restrictions on how she could spend her days as once again people faced rationing; however this time it applied specifically to housing which meant that few able-bodied adults could live outside their homes without fear of eviction or being evicted themselves.. In recent years there have been efforts made by various organizations such as Friends Committee on MtPleasant (FCMP) to keep alive cultural aspects associated with life during prohibition era including traditional music styles played at weddings etc.; however these activities are not allowed without prior approval from FCMP management

The town of Mount Pleasant was founded in 1836 by J.P. Morgan and his partners, John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Mellon. The town became a key center for the Upper Peninsula region during the 1840s and 1850s, thanks to its location at the junction of two major waterways: the Ottawa River and the Grand Traverse Canal. Mount Pleasant experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century as a result of its role as an important manufacturing center on the Upper Peninsula. In 1892, Mount Pleasant became home to Michigan's first electricity plant, which generated power for local businesses and households. In 1923, Mount Pleasant was renamed Detroit after General Motors Corporation transferred its operations from Flint to Detroit.
