The Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1885. The club built a rifle range, a pistol range and eventually a shotgun range. In 1912 the club moved to its current location on Niles Avenue in Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant is a small town in the Muskegon County of Michigan. The population was 1,098 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1836, John Goodrich and his family founded what would become Mount Pleasant on a hill overlooking the village of East Lansing. Goodrich named his settlement after his friend, General James Wilkinson (1763-1835), who supervised construction of Fort Dearborn in downtown Toledo and led the forces that defeated French forces at Lake Erie during the War of 1812. In 1847, Goodrich's son-in-law, Zenas Houghton, purchased land east of Mount Pleasant from John Sibley for $2 per acre. Houghton renamed his holdings "Hancock" after President Andrew Johnson's brother-in-law and Secretary of War Simon Cameron Hancock (1781-1846). In 1865, MtPpleasant became home to one of Michigan's first post offices when it opened on State Street between Woodward Avenue and Hudson Avenue. The post office continued operation until it was discontinued in 1931. According to historical documents filed with the US Postal Service, Mount Pleasant had an average mail volume per dayof 3 parcels totaling 21 pounds throughout its history; however this figure may be underestimated as there were no automated postal facilities in Muskegon County when these records were created. The first postmaster general for Muskegon County was George Waugh (1801-.87) who served from 1861 to 1865; he appointed Myron Covie as acting postmaster general following Waugh's death in March 1863 due to illness. From 1865 until 1901 local residents elected three members to serve asholders or directors on each side of the "township line." This system changed with an act passed by state lawmakers on December 12, 1901 which established township lines without electionentertainment and provided for township meetings only when requested by residents along those lines extending into other parts ofMuskegon County or beyond their own boundaries; this change removed most vestiges of Republican Party rule within Mount Pleasant Township executive committee elections ceased thereafter except where necessary for special events such as school board meetings required by state law; moreover all township administrators retain full control over their administrative functions regardless whether they are reelected through township meeting procedures . On July 15th 1920 a tornado struck MtPpleasant killing five people including Postmaster General Milt Robertson and destroying large part ol' town center including several businesses including Drury Drug Store & Hardware store

This event is considered to be one of the first television programs ever produced outside of Hollywood (). In addition to its role as a wartime accommodation center for soldiers stationed throughout Michigan, Mount Pleasant also became known for its maple syrup production beginning around 1915.. As maple syrup production grew more important within Michigan due to national demand, so too did prices for this product which included significant discounts available through mail order houses (). After years of growth and development within the community over time, mountpleasant's core commercial district began TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGHWAY exit off I-94W towards Jackson Heights/Detroit with businesses such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Jardine's,, Pillsbury Doughnuts Inc., Coca Cola Refreshments Inc., Ford Motor Company - Ward’s dealership being located along this corridor (). During this time period there were also several new housing developments being built such as “The Ridge” () located on what is now Gratiot Avenue [] while others such as “Oak Lawn” () located near present day Park Road () continue to stand today thanks to their importance within local history
Mount Pleasant was founded in 1814 by Peter and Inez Hull. The Hulls were the first white settlers in what is now Mount Pleasant Township. They built a log cabin on the hill, which became their home for the rest of their lives. The town was named after them because they donated land to it. The first school in Mount Pleasant was built in 1816 by Mrs. Sarah Jepson. It was called "The Academy." In 1822, the Village of Mount Pleasant came into being when a group of farmers decided to form a village to improve their economic situation. On May 10, 1822, the Village of Mount Pleasant charter was granted by Professor John Sibley, who also organized the first meeting of the Michigan General Assembly. Mrs. Sarah Jepson taught at The Academy until 1830 when she moved to Detroit to teach school there for two years before returning to Mtpleasant to continue her teaching career. In 1835, Mr. and Mrs. James Ladd purchased land east of present-day Mount Pleasant from David Hinman and laid out a new town called Garden City on that land use for themselves and their families only - not for sale or rental to others at that time! Garden City quickly became known as one of America's most popular tourist destinations due its beautiful architecture and well-preserved colonial buildings from early American history! In 1846, Mr . Henson & Company (later renamed First National Bank) opened up shop in what is now downtown Mount Pleasant with six rooms on Main Street between Spring and Elm Streets – making it one of America's earliest commercial streets! This business grew rapidly throughoutMichigan until First National Bank failed during the Panic Of 1893!
