Mount Clemens is a town in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,972 at the 2010 census. The Mount Clemens Dam was built in 1935 and serves as the community's sole source of water. It also provides power to nearby homes and businesses. The first school opened in Mount Clemens on October 25th 1851 according to tradition.[2] That same year saw another large influx of settlers when Andrew Stevenson purchased 640 acres (24 ha) northeast of present day Mountclemens along Big Sneeze Creek from General David Hunter[3].
