Mount Clemens grew rapidly during this time with many new businesses opening up including a millinery shop run by Miss Sarah Randolph that became known as Randolph's Mills; a grocery store; an ice cream parlor; three churches - Episcopalian (founded in 1853), Methodist (founded in 1865) and Baptist (founded in 1870); four schools - one for girls (1881), one for boys (1888), one for adults only (1902) and two high schools - One for men only (1892) and One for women only (1901). It wasn't until 1907 that electricity was available to residents through an electric line running through nearby Lewis County which made living life easier than ever before! During World War II, Mount Clemens played host to various military encampments such as Army Air Forces Station Lansing(now Kalamazoo Airport) which hosted several thousand troops while also generating jobs for local citizens; ammunition plants built by Ford Motor Company near downtown which processed shells being used in war efforts while also providing housing and other supplies needed by soldiers stationed there; stagecoach depots servicing Battle Creek when necessary along with other transportation needs such as livery stables/drivers' quarters; stores selling items bought at soldier's camps or left behind when units disbanded etc.; dozens of homes were built specifically for servicemen or their families during this time period making MtClemons "a miniature version"of America's largest wartime capital city! By 1870, steamboats had replaced steamboats on many lakes as transportation options for goods and passengers between these regions; this also contributed to development around Mount Clemens which began to increase during this time period with new businesses popping up throughout town such as chalet restaurant Aurora Borealis which opened its doors in 1906 and later became known as one of Michigan's leading tourist attractions In 1898-99, construction began on Wolverine Dam across from present day MountClemonschools Campus with plans to generate power for local mills while projects like Canfield Reservoir were developed nearby During World War II (1939-1945), much effort was put into developing munitions production at Saginaw Arsenal including work done on plutonium production facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory After World War II ended (1945), much economic growth occurred during post-war years with various companies setting up shop within Town limits such as Ford Motor Company (now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) which set up a plant adjacent to MtClemens Schoolhouse that produced cars from 1951 until 1974 Most notably during this time period many people migrated from rural areas eastward into central Michigans suburbs seeking better economic opportunity Additionally residential development increased rapidly along Woodward Avenue near downtown since more people wanted close proximity to job opportunities rather than driving long distances each day This gave rise to some geographical challenges such as residents residing along Woodward Avenue being able to see all sides of downtown without having To drive any further In recent years there has been some redevelopment taking place inside Municipality boundaries but it largelycentered around new housing developments outsideof Downtown or along Woodward Ave
