The gun hammer was used to try and get nails out of door jambs. It also became known as the “Prentice Hammer” because its inventor, John Prentice, originally got it from him. From what we know about this tool, it is likely that the first gun hammers were made with a circular shaped head that was inserted into an opposite side of a post or beam which then held onto the handlebars of the tool. This type of hammer was most commonly used for pounding nails into wood for fences and similar projects. The popularity of guns and tools led to larger manufacturers starting to produce their own versions of this simple but effective tool. By 1856, there were at least six different types of gun hammers being produced by various companies in Mount Clemens alone! These hammers varied greatly in terms of design and function; some simply had a round head with an attached handlebar grip while others featured detachable heads that could be stored separately or put on top of otherhammers for easier use. By 1924, all ten different types of gun hammers currently available on the market date back to1836! And even though they have changed somewhat over the years, they all share one common goal- To provide users with an easy way to get nails outof door jams or other tight spots!

Mount Clemens is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the eastern side of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 5,812 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights micropolitan area. The name "Clemens" is derived from Ottawa (Chippewa) and French for "clear water". In 1834, John Sibley named a creek after then-President James K. Polk because he thought Mr. Polk would like it when he went fishing there in 1834. Mount Clemens was platted in 1837 by Elias Boudinot and named for General James Clemens who had helped to lead United States forces against Mexico during its Mexican War years earlier that year. The village was founded by Nicholas Clymer on May 10, 1839 as a trading post near present day Mount Clemens Township along what became known as the Detroit River Road which later became US Highway 12 and then I-75W. He granted land to his brother Peter Clymer and other settlers in exchange for goods they could bring back overland from Michigan’s upper peninsula regions such as Huron, Wabash, Shiawassee, and Cass County; these people were known as “the Ferrymen of MtClemens” due to their persistence in travelling long distances overland to trade with other inland communities during those times before mail service across America arrived until well into the 20th century! The first settler's house was built about 1840 on what is now footbridge Rd., also called Ferry Landing Rd today because so many early settlers used boats to cross from Canada upriver to MtClemens or downriver again! Settlement continued through various waves of immigrants: Germans (1840-1845), Swedes (1846-1848), Irish Catholics (1849-1854), Italians (1907-1914), Poles (1920s/30s) & Japanese Americans who entered during World War II based upon misleading quotas set by President Franklin D Roosevelt! Katherine Zimmerman married Drury Hintz on December 15th 1865 just north of current day Depot Rd., while living at her parent's home east of town limits – this event marks one of only two marriages reported within Mount Clemens Township itself during that time period! They were both natives of New York City where Katherine had been born about 1850; her parents died soon afterwards complications related to childbirth which left Katherine alone at an early age with few prospects available for self sustenance outside her family! After spending several years working as a schoolteacher & nurse in Battle Creek before returning East Coast in search o husband & children, she settled permanently here after his return in 1944 !! Pioneer kids George Signer (& Alice Emerson ) played together right up until they turned 16½yrs old back when Battle Creek Schools stopped operations cuz we all had our own families !! Over 50yrs later they still keep touch thru grandson George’s son Craigie ! What an amazing community we have here today 🙂

Mount Clemens is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The first white settler in what is now Mount Clemens was David Noble, who arrived in 1824 with his family from Boston, Massachusetts. He and his wife Anna (née Richardson) built their home on a hill overlooking the future city of Detroit, which they named after themselves. They had three children: David Jr., Mount Clemens; and Anna Augusta (Nancy). In 1830, when Detroit was founded as a town, Noble and his family gave $3,000 to help finance its development. By 1833, he had also donated land for what would become Woodward Avenue bisecting downtown from east to west. In 1835-36, James Ligonier erected an adobe cabin on present-day corner of Clark Street and Main Street in what is now called "Old Fort", which served as a trading post for some time before becoming the first courthouse complex in Detroit when it opened in 1840. In 1847–48 John Prentice built a log cabin on what became known as Greenfield Road northeast of today's Mt Pleasant Cemetery – this early pioneer settler may have been related to later farmer James Prentice (1796-1875), who platted nearby Maple Hill Township during the mid 1800s In 1851 Augustus Kelley established a blacksmith shop on Greenfield Road near Griggs Avenue – this African Americansmith operated until1894 In 1865 Anthony Wayne built an addition to Greenfield Road's original building which housed his bakery & grocery store until 1927 AfterDetroit City Charter Amendment #2 passed by referendum on November 3rd 1920 that granted voting rights to all citizens over 21 years old no longer requiring property qualifications for voting (& whites only applied if owner could show residency), Anthony Wayne began applying for incorporation into new Detroit with plans to open many branches throughout Michigan including Mount Clemens . Wayne never got around to it as he died suddenly just before filing .
