The Monroe area was first settled by the Hurons in the late 1800s. The first town, Monroeville, was founded in 1849. In 1875, the village of Monroe was created and named for General James Monroe.
Monroe is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the Grand River just east of Lansing. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Monroe is one of the smallest communities in Michigan and has only two housing tracts- both are single family homes. The community was founded by General James Wilkinson in 1824 as a logging and farming village to support his army headquarters in nearby Lansing. It grew rapidly during the 1840s with the opening of new transportation routes connecting Detroit with St. Clair County and farther west, helping to increase its population from 662 in 1850 to 2,821 by 1870. The first school in Monroe opened in 1846, and it became an agricultural center known for its crops such as corn, beans, potatoes, oats and cottonseed oil. In 1872–73, Monroe constructed what is now called "The Old Farmer's House" as a public exhibition hall for rural events throughout northern Michigan. During World War II, Monroe played an important role as Headquarters for American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) northwest of Detroit that fought against Nazi Germany in Europe. As part of this effort, many military installations were constructed within or near the town limits including Camp Lyon (later Camp Hastings), which housed up to 10 thousand troops; Belle Isle Naval Air Station which served as America's first airfield dedicated exclusively to fighter aircraft; renovated Comfort Inn motel on Cass Corridor Road; and Garrison Hospital which housed sick soldiers from all over North America before finally being destroyed during Allied bombing raids on Dresden on May 8th 1945
bipods were invented in the early 1800s by a man named George Stephenson. Stephenson was working on a new type of locomotive called the Rocket, and he came up with the idea for bipods. He thought that if you could keep your feet stable while you moved, it would make it easier to stay in one spot on your locomotive. He designed two types of bipods- the first was called an “A” bipod, and the second was called a “B” bipod. The A and B bipods were both made from wood, but they differed in how they worked. The A bipod used two legs to help you balance yourself, while the B bipod used just one leg. But even though these bipods were different, they still worked together pretty well. They were also very popular because they were easy to use. You just had to lift one leg up into position and then set it back down again so that itbalanced itself like a regular tripod!

Monroe is a small town in Monroe County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wyoming Micropolitan Statistical Area. Monroe was founded in 1824 as a settlement on the east side of what is now Muskegon Heights Township. In 1834, it became the county seat of Monroe County and remained so until its merger with Lansing in 1959. The first permanent residents of what would become Monroe were two brothers, Simon and Adam Michaux, who came to claim land between White Oak Swamp and Hillers Creek in 1824. They named their new community "Monroe" after General James Kapp's estate near Savannah, Georgia where they had been living while pursuing fur trading opportunities in that region. TheMichaux brothers also built a sawmill on the creek which processed lumber for local settlers and loggers; this mill continued operation until 1945 when it was replaced by an automated one. In 1835, three men from Dickinson (now Decatur) County - David Dixon, John Fetterman and George Stephenson - founded a store called "The Log House" on Main Street in Monroe to provide goods and services to settlers arriving from Canada during the Great Lakes Fur Trade Expansion. It was soon apparent that there were too few people in Monroe to support such an endeavor alone; accordingly, Dixon purchased about 12 acres (4 hectares) of land northeast of town for $2 per acre ($40 per hectare). This parcel became known as Stephenson's Grant because it lay along what is today State Route 9 north of town. On November 10th, 1836, Daniel Webster bought 3/8 shares – or 388 acres (150 hectares) - of Stephenson's Grant from John Fetterman for $10 per share ($640 per kilometer). Webster intended to use the land primarily for farming but decided instead to build a townsite on it; however he never completed his plans because he died before they could be realized. This event led to what is now know as the "Webster Act," which granted township status to those who donated five cents toward building new roads or improvements within their borders - effectively granting township status not just to those who lived within its boundaries but also anyone who paid taxes theretoforward even if they moved out entirely over time! Monroe was founded in 1837 by Nicholas Monroe, a Michigan native and surveyor. The town became a center for the lumber industry as logging began towhelm during the Panic of 1847. The town's population swelled as settlers came to find new land and make their fortunes in the nearby mines. In 1884, Monroe incorporated as a city under the name of "Monroe". In 1922, Monroe unsuccessfully tried to become part of Detroit metropolitan area. The city is currently governed by a five-member board ofldersthat is responsible for setting policies and overseeing operations including budgeting, policing and firefighting.
