Madison Heights, Michigan is a small town in the southern part of the U.S. state of Michigan on the east side of the Straits of Mackinac. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census and is considered to be an affluent suburb of Detroit. The Madison Heights community began as a farming district in 1836 near what is now downtown Detroit. A post office was established there in 1840, and by 1849 there were 121 residents living in nine blocks on Dearborn Street between Woodward Avenue and McNichols Boulevard. The first school opened in 1851; it was closed due to lack of students after only one year. In 1872, developer George Eastman built a large home on land that he had purchased from John Davenport for $5,000. He named his property "Madison Heights", and it quickly became one of America's most expensive neighborhoods for housing – worth more than $100 million by 1913. During World War II, many local businesses were destroyed or converted into military barracks; Madison Heights experienced some of the highest levels of bombing during the war because it was located within easy range for Allied bombers flying over Detroit area homes and factories

Madison Heights is a small, rural community located in the town of Highland Park, Michigan. The original residents of Madison Heights were Dutch and Irish immigrants who arrived in the early 1800s. The first school was founded in 1847 and the first post office was established in 1851. By 1870, the population of Madison Heights had grown to over 400 people. In 1876, the resident physicians formed the American Medical Society and began practicing medicine here. They also established a dispensary which continues to serve patients today. Additionally, they built a number of homes that remain standing today including one called “The Gables” which was donated to the community by Mrs. John A. Macdonald in 1923. In 1905, two brothers named Harry and George Prentice opened a grocery store on State Road 7 near what is now Midtown Center shopping mall. This Wal-Mart became one of America’s most successful Grocery stores with its multiple locations throughoutMichigan and Ohio until it closed its doors in 1990 following bankruptcy proceedings involving its parent company Sam’s Club Incorporated (now Walmart). In 1916, Major General Julius Caesar Vogt purchased 3 lots adjoining his home at 6752 N Maple Ave for $5 per lot from James Fenton for use as an agricultural research station under War Department auspices during World War I hostilities between Great Britain and Germany dubbed “The Great War” or WWI for short because no formal treaty existed between these countries regarding military involvement outside their own respective borders(thus making it an undeclared war). As part of this program, Vogt served as both scientist/director as well as technical advisor to various departments within Army Field Research Laboratory where he conducted groundbreaking research into new methods for increasing crop yields during this time period; however due to financial difficulties experienced by Vargt after The Great War ended his efforts were discontinued circa 1920 when Army Field Research Laboratory transitioned all wartime activities back to peacetime mode.) In 1925 Drury & Sons law firm moved from downtown Detroit into their current building at 1601 Woodward Avenue just east of Grand Boulevard; they continued doing business under that name until 1925 when they changed their name to Haldeman & Gregory LLP after partner Harry Haldeman became Managing Director (and later Chairman) at Wickersham & Bigelow LLP which then became Morgan Stanley Bankruptcy Services Corporation (MSBC) - one of America's largest commercial banks - becoming involved with several major mergers throughout its history including First National City Banks (FNCB), Guaranty Trust Company (GTCO), National City Bank (NCLC), Chase Manhattan Bank v Norwest Broadcasting Corporation et al.; finally Morgan Stanley Bankshares Corporation merged with First Boston Banking Company effective February 2nd 1926 forming the largest banknote issue ever completed through paper transactions alone resulting in THE SECONDlargest stock market value ever recorded by any single organization!
The first white people to live in what is now Madison Heights were the Potawatomi Indians. The area was first settled by Hollanders in 1795. In 1836, a group of settlers from Illinois came to the area and named it after James K. Polk, then president of the United States. The settlement soon became a small town and was renamed Madison in 1847 when John A. McClintock bought land in the neighborhood from Isaac Watts.
