A sight is a device used to help a shooter aim their firearm. There are essentially two types of sights- iron sights and non-iron sights. Iron sights are typically made from metal or glass and are attached directly onto the barrel of a gun, while non-iron sights are attached to other objects (usually barrels) and can be moved around, allowing for different shooting positions. Iron sights were first developed in the 16th century in China as part of the military arsenal for use on horseback. The Chinese were also responsible for developing crossbows which utilized iron sighting devices that could not be adjusted or replaced by the user unlike today’s crossbows which utilize digital sighting systems. In 1753, Colonel James Cook discovered new landmass known as Australia when sailing through its waters and noticed strange object off his ship, USS Discovery. After further inspection he realized that this object was a large warship designed specifically for hunting giant Australian beasts called Aborigines who had been living on this land for thousands of years! Cook immediately began exploring this new landmass with his ship and soon realized that he had discovered another world! He named this new land continent Australia after himself because it looked nothing like any place he had seen before! Cook continued mapping these new lands until 1814 when he reached Tasmania which he named New South Wales after his home country England. He eventually arrived in Australia at what is now Christmas Island where he built a small camp to explore some of these newly found lands! Cook never set foot on mainland Australia again but left behind valuable evidence such as hieroglyphics carved into trees on what is now QueenslandAustralia! These ancient symbols remain one of Australia’s most popular tourist attractions today! Non-iron sight devices were developed by various inventors during different times periods in order to improve accuracy with firearms. The early 19th century saw development of iron eye turrets which utilized a revolving system within the turret itself instead of using screws or nails like present day iron sights/bolsters . By 1847, Louis Lebel had created an all-metal sight using beeswax substituting for parchment paper as sight material . By 1861–1862 Nicholas Conte incorporated Improved telescope design into breechloader rifle called “Lebel Rifle model 1862” This rifle featured 10x magnification along side adjustable rear aperture thereby giving users multiple aiming positions

It was first patented in 1849. In 1865, the US Patent No. 3,564,898 was issued to Amos Kendall for a form of telescopic sights called the Kendall Scope. He designed it to use a rotating arm that allowed viewing from any direction on a picture plane. The invention was first patented in 1867 and later made available on rifles and shotguns.
