In 1828, The Arsenal Company merged with another company called The Canfield Manufacturing Company. This merger created what is now known as The Armory Group. The Armory Group made a huge impact on ammo production throughout Michigan during the late 1800s and into the 1900s. Their products included artillery rounds (shot), shells (powder) and bullet types like those used in handguns (.22 caliber). They also produced cannons and rifles which were used in various wars throughout America from 1812 until 1865. In total, their products accounted for over $1 million worth of sales at their peak years. In 1916, The Armory Group merged with Colt Firearms Corporation to form Colt–Arms Incorporated. This company continued producing ammunition until 1968 when it became part of Armes Chasseurs de France SA based in Reims, France

The first street in town was named after Abraham Lincoln, who served as Mayor from 1839 until his death in 1865. Lincoln Boulevard was built in 1895 through donation from Jethro Tullis Sr., founder of Tullis Chevrolet dealership on Gratiot Avenue between Southfield Road and Woodward Avenue.[2] The name "Lincoln" comes from another donated property: "Lenox," which refers to an early settler who purchased 1/3 interest in a tract near present-day Lenox Street just east of Grand Boulevard.[3][4] The land comprising present-day Lincoln Park was purchased from Simon Cameron by John Davenport, Jr., son of John Davenport, Sr., during an auction held on December 17th, 1907[5][6] with proceeds going towards Purchase Land Foundation development projects within Downtown Detroit.[7][8] On October 10th 1949 Kress Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory purchased 400 acres (16 ha) within present-day Lincoln Park cornering Grand Boulevard eastward from Huron River bluffs; this enabled future cemeteries within park boundaries such as Mount Carmel Cemetery (west side), Prospect Cemetery (south side), Elmwood Cemetery (east side), Good Hope Cemetery (north side), Elmwood Prairie Lawn Memorial Gardens (west side) and Evergreen Chapel Memorial Garden(east side) to be developed without affecting adjoining neighborhoods or streetscapes).[9][10][11]
