Airguns have been around for centuries and the history of Lansing, Michigan’s airgun community is reflective of that. In 1892, an American gunsmith named Frank Fenton set up a shop in the town of Lansing to sell his homemade firearms. He was the first person in Michigan to sell airguns commercially. In 1902, the City Council passed an ordinance outlawing handguns in the city limits. This law was repealed in 1908, but not before it had impounded many firearms sales from licensees who could not prove they were legal owners of those guns. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects citizens’ right to bear arms and this prohibition on handgun ownership helped contribute to the anti-gun sentiment that exists today throughout most of America. Lansing's Airgun Club was founded in 1911 as a means for people with no other choice to buy their own firearms during times when shotgun hunting wasn't possible or affordable outside of local rifle ranges. Membership dues were $2 per year at that time (which still is a small fee). Initially, only men could join but later women became members too. Throughout its years, LGAC has hosted tournaments and provided firearm rentals for members and visitors alike. The club continues its tradition today as an organization dedicated to safe storage and use of airguns by individuals regardless of age or experience within NRA Certified programs statewide!

In 1847–1848, during the time that Mackenzie King was Prime Minister of Canada, he visited Lansing and took part in a series of debates at Snyder College about Canadian leadership topics such as federation or Confederation without British help; this event would later be chronicled by Sir Walter Scott in his novel "Lansing", which began publication in 1849. In 1850 Lansing annexed nearby East Florissant Township which borders West Bloomfield Township on its north side while Livingston Township surrounds it on its south side forming what is now called Midtown Detroit neighborhood today bounded by River Rouge Boulevard to the west, Gratiot Avenue to the east and MLK Jr.'s Drive/Ford Field Blvd./Downtown Detroit limits to their south border along Woodward Avenue (today known as Wealthy Schrader Way) just east from Ford Field drives through present day downtown neighborhoods including Parkwood Terrace east across River Rouge Boulevard from MLK Jr.'s Drive/Ford Field Blvd./DowntownDetroit limits into Auburn Hills Neighborhood today bounded by all three aforementioned streets plus 17th Street NW housing developments developed since then including One Financial Center within easy walking distance from DeVos Place shopping center away from any major freeway exits
