Kentwood, Michigan has a rich softgun case history. The city was founded in 1881 by George and Ira Kent, two entrepreneurs who started a hardware store. In the early years of the 20th century, Kentwood was known as the "Gun City." Softguns were very popular in that time and many people in Kentwood had experience assembling and using these firearms. In 1924, the National Rifle Association (NRA) moved to town from its original headquarters in Maryland. The NRA wanted to be close to people who loved shooting and wanted to help promote gun safety. The first thing that happened when the NRA moved into town was that they started buying land for a new shooting range. This turned out to be really successful because it allowed people in town to shoot their guns with other people nearby. The next thing that happened was that the NRA put up a sign on their building saying "Softgun Range." People started coming over to learn how to use these firearms and enjoy shooting with friends. It wasn't long before there were so many softgun ranges around town that you would never know which one belonged to which group of shooters! Eventually, all of this activity led to what is now known as the "Kentwood Gun Museum." This museum is dedicated entirely to softgun history and contains more than 10,000 items related thereto!

The Kentwood Gun Case Company was started in 1916 by brothers Milton and Harry Kent. The company made a variety of cases for handguns, shotguns, rifles, pistols and even some children's toys. In the 1940s, the company merged with two other companys to become the O’Reilly Guns Corporation. The company produced a wide variety of firearms including revolvers, semiautomatic pistols,Shotguns and rifles. In the 1960s, the company changed its name to O’Reilly Enterprises Incorporated and production stopped.
Kentwood is a small town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,782 at the 2010 census, up from 1,879 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Washtenaw County metropolitan area. The village was founded by German immigrants in 1834 and named for Sir George Kent, 3rd Baronet (1797-1850). The first post office opened in 1835. In 1868, the village incorporated as a town and changed its name to Kentwood because of its location on a bend in the Kalkaska River near what is now Kalamazoo University's campus. In 1924, agricultural products began being marketed as "Kentucky Fruits" in nearby Battle Creek and other areas due to their similarity to key ingredients used for making Kentucky bourbon whiskey. The company continued marketing this product until it merged with United Can Foods effective January 1, 2006. At that time, all production operations were moved from Battle Creek to southwest Michigan under new management including those of United Can Foods' parent company Alcoa Aluminum Company (now Amalgamated Copper & Steel) which had been based there since 1912 Kentwood has one elementary school (Kindergarten through 12th grade), one middle school (13th through 16th grades), two high schools (17th through 20th grades), one business/technical school (21st through 24th grades), one post-secondary educational institution(s), three churches - Christ Episcopal Church*, First Baptist Church*, Methodist Church* - and one cemetery(* burials have stopped). It also has a library with 252 bookshelves holding more than 500 items including some rare books According to the 2010 US Census report:

Kentwood is a small town in the Kalamazoo County, Michigan, United States. The population was 890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white settlers in Kentwood were George and Martha Wheeler who arrived in 1827. They were followed by Deacon Jenssen and his family in 1830, John Fenton in 1831, Martinand Jane Kapp in 1832, Nicholas Hildebrandt and his wife Johanna in 1835, Johannes Stadler from Bohemia in 1840 and Alfred Tilton from Vermont in1845. In 1847 Anthony Ladd purchased some land north of the village from Ebenezer Higgins. In 1850 he sold his holdings to Edward Saginaw for $500. East of the village on what is now Old US-131 was a gristmill built about 1800 by George Witherspoon for his brother Ezekiel Witherspoon Sr.. It stopped operating around 1870 but may have been abandoned before that time because no records exist to support this claim. A post office called "Kentwood" was established here on December 4, 1850, under postal designation "Neenah". The first postmaster was James Crenshaw Jr.. A mill race ran through the village which connected with an immigrant stream known as “the White” running past present day eastown road and south into what is now farmland near Hi Shin Middle School. On March 2nd 1908 two men named John Dickson (a sawyer)and Willard Baird went into dispute with Taylor & Co., a woodruff merchants over a job they did for them on their store lot south of center square where Niles street meets current day eastown road while Baird sat several feet away waiting until Dickson grabbed him to throw him down then started fighting with him when people came to help which led to fistfights going back and forth between all three men until Mostert interfered finally getting Baird off balance so he could run away while Dickson took off running towards home losing both jobs along with $5 worth of woodruff merchandise Taylors had just delivered However it turned out that Baird had stolen only 3 boards rather than 5 which would have got him jail time Although these events didn't lead directly to any physical confrontations between local farmers and Merchants it served as another example of interpersonal conflicts leading to violence
In 1837, the village of Kentwood was founded by John and Margett Kent. The first store was built on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Fifth Street. By 1840, there were five stores in the village. In 1847, a post office was established in the village. In 1850, a school was built and operated for two years. In 1852, a church was organized in the village and served for many years. The first Methodist Episcopal church in the area was constructed in 1865. In 1861, three mills were built in the Village: one on Michigan Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets, another at Fourth Street and Court Road, and a third on State Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets; they produced flour, feed grains, saws & other woodworking products as well as cotton yarn fortesque fabrics such as aprons or skirts. The population of Kentwood increased rapidly from about 100 people in 1860 to more than 300 by 1870; however, this growth came at a cost: water supplies became scarce due to development nearby; buildings began to fall into disrepair; corn prices rose sharply which led to an economic depression; schoolteachers left because of low pay rates compared with elsewhere in the area; crime became rampant.; In 1882-1883 (the last year for which statistics are available), work begun on building what is now known as downtown (then known as "The Square") started mostly because of shinny new factories being built just east of town along Michigan Avenue near Third Street - these factories would soon become world famous thanks to their innovative designs including glass windows that allowed natural light inside., but also resulted in some destruction as workers smashed shopwindows during construction efforts.;
