Inkster, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The name "Inkster" comes from Ingeborg, daughter of Norwegian immigrants Ole Olsen and Anna Maria Hauptmann, who settled in what is now Inkster Township in 1824. A post office called Inkster was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first rifle stocks were built here by veterans of the American Civil War as equipment for their armies on home soil. By 1865, rifles had become an important tool for farmers and ranchers across central Michigan. One factor that contributed to this growth was the availability of large tracts of land suitable for rifle farming throughout the region due to natural features such as hills and valleys that made Rifletown an ideal location for agriculture even during tough times like the Great Depression or World War II. The company manufactured including both arms and ammunition products until it was sold to Remington Arms Company in 1996.
Inkster, Michigan is a small town in the heart of the Great Lakes region. The population was 3,859 at the 2000 census. It is located in Macomb County. Inkster is known for being home to the world's largest collection of inkwells and its annual Inkfest celebration which features art exhibitions, song and dance performances, food trucks, and more. The town also has a sizable history dating back to 1836 when it was founded as a post office by General John Albion Cooke. Inkster is named after Isaac Newton's Philosopher's Stone which was discovered in India in 1799 and became one of the most famous objects in history. The stone was used to create drawings and paintings on paper with no other methods available at that time. In 1836, General Cooke donated land to be used for a new post office which would become Inkster. The first settlers arrived in 1840 and by 1851 there were over 100 people living here. In 1905, the town had a population of 514 residents and it grew rapidly until World War II when it decreased slightly due to war-related destruction such as bombing raids that destroyed many homes and businesses within the community. As times changed so too did Inkster; during the 1970s it became an all- girls school called Ladygentleman School before reverting back to its original name in 1985 following passage of legislation allowing public schools for girls across Michigan statewide (the state had been divided into districts). Since then, inksters have turned out their lights at night outside their local high school while they attend Ladygentleman School - something that still takes place every year despite objections from parents who argue that their children should have access to better options than what they can find within walking distance! The current Mayor of Inkster is Rebecca Newbold who took office on January 1st 2018 after serving as Deputy Mayor since December 11th 2017 under then Mayor David Grosse – her predecessor who left office effective January 1st 2016 after four years leading the municipality during which time he helped lead it from modest beginnings into becoming one of Macomb County’s fastest growing communities with an estimated population growth rate exceeding 7% annually! Prior to her election as Mayor Rebecca Newbold served two terms on both boards that make up City Council including five year terms on both Audit Committee & Parks & Recreation Committee where she achieved significant success achieving increased funding for parks initiatives & expanding services available through these Boards thru ordinances passed unanimously each session resulting in an increase park capacity by over 50%. She has also been vocal about her vision for how city hall should function modernize outdated building/facilities however much progress has yet be made despite $5 million currently slated aside specifically towards this goal!!!

In 1892, Inkster became one of several towns in Michigan to become a charter member of the National Association for Employment Security (NAES). This organization helped to promote job opportunities for unemployed citizens in various American cities. In 1924, Inkster merged with other nearby towns to form the City of Detroit. Today, Inkster is a small town located just outside of Detroit. It has experienced some significant changes over time – most notably during World War II when it became home to radar equipment manufacturers working on wartime projects in southern Michigan.
In 1836, the first post office in Inkster was established. By 1840, there were six stores in the town and two churches. In 1851, inksters voted to incorporation and by 1870 had a population of 150. The first school in Inkster opened in 1881. In 1912, Inkster merged with neighboring Holland Township to form a new township. The population of Inkster reached 1,500 by 1915. On July 1, 1966, Inkster Township was renamed Holland Township after its residents joined with nearby East Hazelton to form the city of Holland Ford City (later Holland Township).
