Inkster, Michigan is located in Western Michigan and has been known for its printmaking and paper industry since the 1800s. In 1876, local printer George Fenton established a printing plant in Inkster that would become one of the largest in the area. The city also became home to the first optical instrument company in America, The Optical Instrument Company of America (OICA). OICA was founded by three brothers who invented a type of photographic film called " outing ". The company produced equipment used by photographers around the world. The Optical Instrument Company of America was eventually merged with Bell Telephone Laboratories to form AT&T Bell Labs in 1947. Together, AT&T Bell Labs and OICA helped create technology that allowed for digital photography and other advances in communication and computing over decades. Today, Inkster is still home to some of AT&T Bell Labs’ most advanced technology development programs such as their laser lab which helps develop newgeneration lasers for use in smartphones and other electronics products; their photonics lab which researches how light can be manipulated to create electrical signals; as well as their wind turbines research program which focuses on understanding how wind power can be used to generate electricity from rain or snow

Inkster is a small town in the United States Midwest. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids-Washtenaw County, Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area. Inkster is located in Washtenaw County on the north side of the Mackinac Bridge, just east of Detroit and west of Lansing. The area that would become Inkster was first settled by French traders in 1795. They named it Isabella after Queen Isabella of Spain, who had married King George II of Great Britain. In 1807, when Michigan became a territory of the United States, Inkster was appointed as its first town and capital. The post office was established in 1808 with seven buildings on Main Street, which still stands today as one of Inkster's main streets. Inkster grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location on an important trade route connecting Detroit with other parts of Michigan and Canada. Manufacturing began to emerge in Inkster during this time with businesses such as Jardine & Macdonald printing paper and ink products for local markets. Paper mills closed during World War I but production resumed soon afterward; until they were closed again by competitor Wabasha Paper Company in 1930 due to competition from cheaper imports from Japan. During World War II, much ink manufacturing took place at nearby Allis-Chalmers Corporation plants producing tank engines, gasoline Tanks and other munitions products used throughout North America including Europe and Asia...the plant produced more than two million gallons (902 metric tons) per day for American war effort." Inkster experienced some growth following the end of World War II; however it stopped short because lack of available land led to heavy industry moving out into new areas outside Inkster while also reducing housing production within town limits which contributed to high levels of poverty among residents...Today there are few if any major employers remaining within downtown Inkster save for a couple restaurants and a small retail center...However there are many small businesses dotting every inch of downtown core including several dozen farmers markets each week."

Inkster is a small town in the western Michigan district of Muskegon County. It is located on the Muskegon River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Grand Rapids and 15 miles (24 km) south of Detroit. The population was 2,381 at the 2010 census. Inkster is a part of the Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Bay City metropolitan area. The town was founded by pioneers who journeyed down the Muskegon River in 1824. At first they named their settlement "Moses Lake," after the biblical Moses and his party that crossed over from Canaan into Egypt during the Exodus story. However, when they learned that other settlers were also moving downriver, they renamed their community in honor of General James Wilkinson, hero of the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1812, which helped end Native American raids on white settlements in what is nowmuskegon county. In 1830, John Fenton established a gristmill at present-day Inkster and became its first postmaster. Inkster experienced heavy industry development during World War II as many local companies produced munitions forthe war effort including Matson Paper Company (now HP), Ford Motor Company's Rouge production plant and Butlernance Workshops Incorporated (later Ballistics Division). The mills closed following World War II but reopened several years later as inkwells for local farmers to produce paper products such as diapers and checkershirts out of woodchips until displaced by automated printing presses beginning in the early 1960s. Inkster's last mill closed operations in 1984; it had been producing Checkerboard Board since 1892. Today, much important local economic development has taken place within or adjacent to Inkster: The Live Oak Casino Resort opened its doors in 2006; Arby's chicken restaurant moved from hamburgers to an inkling called "Chicken Shack" inside Live Oak Casino Resort; Fisher King ranches offer beef cattle along with hay rides and other outdoor activities across various paddocks near downtown Inkster; A&W Restaurants shuttered its location next to Live Oak Casino Resort but reopened under new management a few blocks away under the name "A & W Inn." Inkster was founded in 1836 by John Morse and James H. Inkster as a small community on the east bank of the I-355 motorway, just south of Lansing. The town became an important manufacturing center for ink and paper products, with mills located at nearby Westville, Southfield, and other locations. In the late 19th century, Inkster's economy shifted to machine tools production and new transportation technologies such as railroad cars. The town declined during the Great Depression but regained some of its former prosperity in the early 50s through innovation in marketing and new business strategies. In recent years, Inkster has seen strong growth in digital media businesses such as online publishing houses.
