Browning Firearms has been manufacturing handguns and holsters for over 100 years. In the early 1900s, Browning Firearms started selling handguns through a small business called The Gun Shop. The Gun Shop was located in what is now the Holland Municipal Building. The Gun Shop was a small store that sold handguns and other firearms accessories. In 1911, Browning Firearms merged with Colt Corporation to form Colt & Company. At Colt & Company, BrowningIGHTS began manufacturing revolvers and pistols under the nameBrowning-Hendrix (B&H) revolver series. These revolvers were designed by John Garth Callahan and manufactured by Colt & Company’s armory in Hartford, Connecticut. From 1911 to 1915, B&H revolvers were produced as part of the Model 1908 Springfield Armory line of firearms. In 1916, B&H became listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the name Browning Arms Corporation (BA). At BA, brownings became one of two handgun brands authorized by New York State police department (NYSPD) for use in law enforcement officers’ uniforms while still producing their own guns under their original company name of Browning-Hendrix revolver series production limited to Law Enforcement Officers Only plan/model 1908 model Springfield Armory guns chambered in 9mm Luger or .357 Magnum rounds only with decocker (no hammer). With this change came new marketing materials including a “Guide To Pistolpacking” which aimed at civilians who might not be familiar with how to care for a pistol before an event such as a shooting competition or parade etc., providing tips on proper storage maintenance including cleaning; handling; firing; reloading; general cockering techniques etc.. From 1865 until 1903, Dutch-born immigrant Jacobus van der Kolk was responsible for developing and marketing the Helsing holster company’s products in Holland. Van der Kolk is considered to be one of the most notable holster designers of all time because of his innovative designs which incorporated a number of different types of hardware into leather holsters for handguns such as revolvers and shotguns. After Van der Kolk’s death in 1903, his sons continued running Helsing Holster Manufacturing until it closed its doors in 1967.
Holland is a town in the Genesee County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,547 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. Holland was founded in 1836 by Dutch Settlers and was named for Hendrik de Hooght, a captain in the royal Dutch Navy who had been transported to America as an indentured servant. Holland has two elementary schools, Oneida Elementary School and Holland Middle School; one high school (Lansing Community High School), Holland Junior-Senior High School, Holland Senior-High School; and Holland Technical Institute which offers diploma programs in trades such as carpentry, welding, machining and fabricating. There are also several private academies serving grades K-12 including Parkland Academy which serves pre-kindergarten through 8th grade; Harding Academy which serves 9th through 12th grades; Bellefontaine Academy which serves 13th through 16th grades; and Tomball Academy which serves 17th through 19th grades. The town began developing a water filtration plant in 1925 that became known as "The Mill" because of its ability to filter out lead from water supplies used by businesses throughout the area. In 1957 it bought land along the Negaunee River for what would become "The Park". The park includes a playground, tennis court/pool complex, basketball court/track Complex, boat ramp/parking lot etc., now used by local residents for picnics & other events during summertime. Today's mill complex still contains portions of original mill buildings dating back to 1836 while others were added over time including: a bakery (1854), blacksmith shop (1868), hotel/motel (1927), post office (1940) and library (1973). In 1971 when Holland Township lost its charter due to financial difficulties caused by severe drought, voters approved expanding their limits so that all of what is now southeastern Genesee County would become part of township borders on December 31st 1971 when they voted 3-2 to annex most of Ottawa County including what is now Hastings Township with 479 ballots cast with only 33 against annexation while only 1 vote against came from large rock quarry company that objected to loss of property near their quarries within city limits
