The population was 1,727 as of the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Holland were Dutchmen on their way from the north to trade with Native Americans. They passed through the area in 1624 on their way to what is now Minnesota. In 1814, two years after the end of the War for Independence, General John Calkins postulated that Holland be named for John Holland (1751-1824), a senator from New York who had been one of America's most successful commanders during the war and afterward served as an advisor to President James K. Polk. In 1822, Captain John Prentice founded Holland Landing on Mackinac Island which became one of America's earliest commercial ports and later became known as Prentice Harbor. By 1829, when it was renamed Seneca Lake after Senator John A. Macdonald (1811-1868), it had become one of America's busiest fishing villages with over 2 million pounds (910 tonnes) caught each year by its fishermen. In 1834, while still part of Canada, Revolutions started taking place throughout much of North American; by this time Holland had also become associated with political unrest in Canada due to its proximity to Toronto and its allegiance to Great Britain rather than France or Belgium like much else in Canada at that time. On July 3rd 1830 – less than four months before his death – Sir George Brown set off across Canada on his famous "Beachcomber" Expedition seeking new land routes open up for settlement by people looking for opportunities against British rule After landing at Bento Harbor on Long Beach Peninsula near today’s Tawas City limits he sent out two parties: One under Captains Elliott and Brouwer met no success and returned home; but Lieutenant Hurlbut reached Bento Harbor September 9th with news that beachcombers had discovered Passage Sound contain vast quantities Of Gold Stock At Isabella Point - a discovery which increased interest in Alaska - so Brown ordered Hurlbut back into service immediately Brown soon realized there was too much gold available only in Alaska not enough room for all those coming up with claims so he dispatched another expedition led by Commodore Matthew Perry under orders from Ulysses S Grant [(1823-1881)]. The objective was not gold but control over Russian possessions along Siberia’s Pacific coast including Peniaktok where Perry sighted “a great tidal wave” coming ashore bearing all sorts of stores such as cloth, cattle & horses etc., followed soon afterwards by an immense fleet consisting mostly British ships containing more than 100 merchant vessels carrying various items such as flour & lumber etc., troops disembarking ontoshore filled boats called gigantes whose crews helped putrefy whatever cargo Loading these supplies onto beach carts pushed inland until finallymost reaching established trading posts where goods were unloaded fresh onto arrival at Sitka Bay where native traders bought everything from local Furriers getting very rich doing this they then shipped everything back downriver Toreehchik

Soon after, pistols became common semi-automatic weapons throughout Europe and North America. Gunsmiths started creating more accurate versions of handguns that could handle larger caliber rounds than traditional pistols just four years later! By 1871 AD, revolver founder Colt had developed his famous Model 31 revolver which could fires 6 round rounds per clip! Pistol manufacturers quickly realized that this type of weapon was perfect for military use – it was reliable enough for combat but also lightweight enough not to unnecessarily add weight to rifles or shotguns! During World War I (1914-18), handguns were again extremely important for soldiers due their firepower and precision compared to traditional machine guns or artillery pieces. Shotguns were also widely used in war because they were relatively easy to reload without any dangerous parts being lost (although they did not quite reach their current level of popularity until after World War II!). Pistols remained incredibly popular through most wars up until about 1945 AD when machine guns took over as main armament for armies everywhere!
