In 1960, Red Dot sight inventor Bob Schieffer opened his business selling red dot sights. His sights were designed for use with pistols and rifles. He made them available to the public through his business and also sold them direct to shooters who could not find them elsewhere. By 1966, Schieffer had developed a design that would become known as the "Schieffer Red Dot." This sight used a red dot lens mounted on a standard frame type rifle receiver. Highland Park is a town in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,554 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Highland Park was James A. Sutherland in 1836. In 1847, John Ransom bought land here and founded the city of Highland Park on it with his wife Anna Maria (née Coulter). In 1851, Jesse Beall moved to Highland Park from Muskegon Heights and started a grocery store there that became one of the most successful in the area. He also founded the First Methodist Church here in 1865. In 1886, George Halsey donated land to establish what is now Midtown Detroit as a commercial district for small businesses near Woodward Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard outside of downtown Detroit. This area would later become known as Downtown Detroit. In 1951, Walter Papp created Highland Park's first high school when he opened Papp High School onCenter Street between Grand River Avenue and Gratiot Avenue. It remained open until 1988 when it closed due to budget cuts by then-Papp Township Superintendent Clifford Sawaya Sr.. In November 1984 3 men were charged with kidnapping 7 year old Karen Leach from her home in Highland Park after she had been reported missing by her mother moments earlier while they played outside their home; Karen's abductors are still at large today! The case quickly gained national attention thanks to an FBI sting operation which led to arrests within 2 months! On July 8th 2006 5 people were arrested after robbing a convenience store located at 4409 WPublix Rd.,Store #20091234), inside of which they found two handguns! The suspects are thought to be associated with MS-13 gang members who have been robbing neighboring stores lately

Highland Park is a small town in Wayne County, Michigan. It was founded in 1868 by Scottish-born farmers, and has been called the "Cradle of American Music." Highland Park is located on the banks of the Ottawa River, about 20 miles west of Detroit. The town's name comes from highlands to the east and west of it, where many farms were situated. The first settlers in Highland Park were eleven men from Glasgow who arrived in 1868. They built a log cabin on a hill above the river and named their settlement Highland Park after Lord Caledon's estate in Scotland. The original residents did not have any land and relied primarily on raising crops and hunting game for subsistence. In 1875, when Highland Park became a township, its population was just over 100 people. By 1907, it had reached 1,000 people and began to develop as an agricultural center with several small industries such as wagonmaking and sawmilling. In 1916, Highland Park became an incorporated village when it annexed part of neighboring White Lake Township. During World War I, Highland Park played an important role as one of the largest military camps in Wayne County due to its location close to enemy lines. More than 2,500 soldiers were stationed at or near Highland Park during the war; many died here while serving their country. After the war ended, most of these troops returned home but some continued living at camp until they moved away in late 1920 or early 1921. An important part of post-war development for Highland Park came with music hall developments that started taking place around this time including The Majestic (1921), The Palace (1924), Belle Isle (1926), Empire Ballroom (1927) and The Shrine (1928). Many famous artists performed at these venues including Roy Orbison (1896-1980), Harry James (1895-1978) and Benny Goodman (1900-1973). Many well known recordings were made here including Joe Meek's 1925 album You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore!, which featured songs by Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams Sr.. A major fire destroyed much of downtown White Lake Township on November 17th 1922 which led to intense revitalization efforts across all parts of town with new businesses opening up along with plans for large public works projects like reclamation work on adjacent hillsides which would later becomecaller Macomb Creek watershed park . This effort ultimately resulted in increased tax revenue for both townships so that they could continue developing despite Great Depression conditions that would follow . However , although overall growth continued throughout the 1930s into 1940s there were some significant setbacks such as low birth rates among certain segments within society while joblessness increased ; this sometimes led to tension between communities over control over resources
