When David Starr Jordan became president of General Motors in 1927, he ordered that all GM plants be closed in America except for one in Dearborn Heights, Michigan which would become Cadillac. This decision created a vacuum in the American market for new car production and Cadillac took advantage with their debut model - the Cimarron - in 1928. Prior to this merger with its French parent company PSA (Paris-based Groupe PSA), Cadillac had been selling products under various brand names including Gaydon (1927), Duncan (1928), and Regal (1929). The original design team for both models were led by Louis Chevrolet who went on to co-found GMC before his death in 1977. In 1933 Cadillac built its first self-propelled truck when they acquired North American Truck Company from John Deere; this truck was used by U.S. Postmaster General Harry S Truman during his presidential campaigns as well as being used by Eisenhower during World War II when he needed to move supplies quickly across country

Highland Park is a small city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the west side of the Detroit River between Wayne and Oakland counties. The population was 6,554 at the 2010 census. Highland Park was named for its high altitude, situating it above all other cities in Michigan. Highland Park's rich history can be traced back to 1837 when landowner Nicholas Hennepin purchased 143 acres (60 hectares) of land in what is now Highland Park from John Sibley for $1 per acre. The first settler in what is now Highland Park was John McLaren who arrived in 1837 and built his home on a hill overlooking the river. McLaren was followed by his brother-in-law James Watt who also built a home and started a business selling goods made from sugar beets that he shipped downriver to Detroit. In 1840, Alexander Shields moved into what is now Highland Park with his family and started farming corn, beans and hay on nine acres (3 hectares). By 1845 there were over twenty farms in Highland Park with thirty families residing there. This growth continued until after World War II when housing shortages forced many people out of their homes and into neighboring towns such as Dearborn Heights or Bloomfield Hills which had larger populations than Highland Park at that time. In 1951, following the creation of Macomb County, Highland Park became part of that county's new unified district which included most of Wayne County except for downtown Detroit which still belonged to Wayne County. However, because much of Highlanders' history took place before Macomb County came into being it remains an unincorporated area within Oakland County. Today, much of what used to make up Highlands park are still present including several parks including Glenbrook Farms Preserve operated by The Nature Conservancy which contains 10 miles (16 kilometers) of hiking trails as well as 2 tennis courts, 2 baseball diamonds and 1 playground complete with slides and swings etc.. There are also several schools located within walking distance including Saint Clair Elementary School which teaches pre-kindergarten through eighth grade; Glenbrook Middle School where ninth through twelfth grade students attend; McKnight Middle School where eleventh through twelfth grade students attend; Asbury Hills Jr./Sr., Stroudsburg Jr./Sr., Cedar Rapids Jr./Sr., Macomb Co.-Oakland Co.-Southgate Sr./Jr., McClellan Woods Jr./Sr., Bellefontaine East/Westside/Southside/Eastside/Northside... all public schools serving grades PK-12th along with several private academies like Northern Illinois University’s DeKalb Campus located just east one block north from McGraw Hall across Woodward Avenue near Interstate 75) .
Highland Park is a city located in the U.S. state of Michigan, and is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. Highland Park was founded on July 1, 1892 by Scotsmen John and Jane Thomson, who named it for their ancestral home in Perthshire, Scotland. The Thomson family still lives in Highland Park today. The city's first store opened in 1892 at 12 South Main Street. In 1902, the city built its first public schoolhouse and began to issue stamps to help finance school tuition costs. The Thomson family also donated land to the city for parks and other public purposes. In 1916, Highland Park became a municipal district with full voting rights and an office of mayor; however, it remained under the jurisdiction of the City of Detroit until 1949 when it was annexed into the newly formed Detroit suburb of Warren Township; Highland Park then regained its own municipal status as a separate municipality within Warren Township effective January 1, 1957. On July 1st, 1992 - just over 100 years after John Thomson founded Highland Park - HighlandPark merged with nearbyWarren Township to form one big community!
