The city proper lasted until 1907 when it merged with neighboring Village of East Hazelton to form what is now known as Hazelton-East Hazelton Township. In 1947, the new municipality absorbed the village of Southfield which had been formed from portions of both villages. In 1990, parts of east Hazelton were annexed into the newly created city of West Bloomfield after that municipality voters approved an ordinance changing its name to West Bloomfield Township in order to reflect its annexation into City Hall's jurisdiction over that portion of Greater Hazel Park.. On November 3, 2006, the City Council passed an ordinance annexing all unincorporated areas within west Bloomfield Township including east Hazelton and Northville to make up for lostland since part of east Hazelton was annexed into West Bloomfield Township but not included in that change in name...On July 1st 2007 all unincorporated areas within west Bloomfield Township including east Hazelton and Northville were annexed by the City Of Detroit thru Ordinance No 7-2007

Hazel Park is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and the county seat of Macomb County. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. Hazel Park is located on a bend in the Kawkawa River, about 12 miles north of downtown Detroit and 15 miles south of Rochester, New York. It is one of four cities in Macomb County (the others are Auburn Hills, Novi and Midland). In 1837, John Dyer established what would become Hazel Park as a small station on the Kalamazoo & Mackinac Railway. In 1839, he named it after his sister-in-law's mother - "Hazel" being Scottish for "hazelnut." By 1847, when Michigan became an American state, Hazel Park had grown to over 1,000 citizens. The first post office was established in Hazel Park on February 14th of that year by Jno Pugh with Athalie Murchison as his wife's help; they were both natives of Scotland. The name was changed to its current form on May 10th 1880 by act of Congress under pressure from then-Governor John Pettit! The city experienced growth during World War II due to wartime demand for housing and military production plants within its borders; today many reminders can be found around town such as Victory gardens and tanks that once lined North Road near Gratiot Avenue. One particular landmark from World War II is HVAC equipment still standing outside local business at 1633 N Grand Blvd., now used for storage! The city has seen some recent growth since then including efforts towards modernizing government services through Mayor Dan Gilbert’s “One City Plan” which calls for more public transportation options within reach while also investing in new infrastructure like Interstate 75 between downtown Detroit and suburban communities like Sterling Heights and Farmington Hills; these plans have led to increased development around town while preserving much historical heritage! 2% increase in home values per year since 2009 highlights strong economy
Hazel Park was founded in 1871 as a small farming community in the Township of Hazel. The town was named after General Harrison Gray Otis, who had been instrumental in pushing for Michigan's admission to the United States. In 1903, the township of Hazel and the village of Hazel Park merged to form one municipality. In 1913, Hazel Park became part of the Detroit metropolitan area and experienced some growth and development. However, by 1971, when it merged with neighboring Ortonville into Macomb County, Hazel Park's population had shrunk to about 1,000 residents.
