Hazel Park is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the Detroit River and bordered by Wayne County to the south and east, Dearborn County to the north, and Monroe County to the west. The population was 43,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Lawrence metropolitan area. The town of Hazel Park was first settled in 1831 by farmers from Illinois who had come overland through what is now Indiana Territory. In 1836, a post office was established at Hazel Park with an initial population of 10 residents. By 1840, there were 100 residents living in what would become Hazel Park. During World War II, many Hazel Park jobs were done for Ford Motor Company plants in nearby Dearborn Heights and Rouge City; as a result, some 50% of all production at those plants took place within 15 miles (24 km) of Hazel Park itself. The city's growth during this time was due largely to its location: just 10 miles (16 km) away from both Dearborn Heights and Rouge City made it easy for people to get around on foot or bike while also providing easy access to auto parts and services that were needed for war production. In 1961, when Michigan became an independent state following its secession from Great Britain, Hazel Park voted not to secede but did not gain full status as an incorporated municipality until 1978 when it adopted a charter under which it named itself "HazelPark." In 2006–2007 planning commissioners recommended that Hazel Park annexlying villages such as Georgetown Township because they felt that their concerns about traffic congestion within the city should be given serious consideration before any annexation decision could be made; however no action was taken on this recommendation until May 2007 when local officials announced plans to annex Georgetown Township based on concerns about traffic problems caused by increased development near downtown Hazel Park proper rather than within its own boundaries

Hazel Park is a city in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. The population was 17,724 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Macomb County. The first European settlers in what is now Hazel Park were Dutch and Belgians who arrived in 1694. In 1807, General David Clemens established a military post here called Fort Dearborn and named it for his father-in-law, Samuel Dearborn. The city was platted in 1831 by James K. Polk and others as the village of Hazel Park on a tract of land lying between Maple Lake and Detroit River that had been bought from Chief Wabash by Colonel Anthony Caron. The town was founded on April 15, 1833 by John Dickey as the village of Nilesborough after he donated land to the township for its new courthouse site. On October 3, 1834, Nilesborough became part of Hazel Park when it was merged with neighboring townships Oneida (now Grand Rapids), Holland Township (now Shiawassee), Ottawa (now Ottawa Hills), Plymouth Township (now Farmington Hills) and Wellston Township (now Birmingham). In 1840, Haggerty Brothers started a gristmill on Prairie Road which became one of the largest in America; it continued operation until 1862 when it closed because of competition from mills run by Nicholas Hammond and other entrepreneurs associated with Grunwald Mill Company Ltd., which later became part of Archer Daniels Midland Incorporated. After Grunwald's closure most OF&O mills closed as well leaving Hazel Park with just two small Mills closing down: American Can Manufacturing Co., shuttered 1922 and Jardine & Stroud Paper products company closed 1925 also shutting down all their riverside paper mill locations including Hazel Park's only paper product plant remaining open until 1984 - both plants still produce rolls for cigar boxes today! In 1907 there were ten primary school students attending Hazel Park schools while now there are over ninety kids graduating from high school each year! Since its incorporation into Macomb County on February 27th 1909 due to an actof Congress passed that same day "An Act To Establish A Municipal District Within This County", Hazel park has always played an important role within our community known for being home to many businesses such as Ford Motor Company(1911-1920s) soon followed by Chrysler Corporation(1921-1926) Mack Trucks(1927-1936), Sears Roebuck & Co.(1937-1945) rock band classic rock pioneers Deep Purple visited us here numerous times during their early years prior to opening up their own factory outside Detroit Michigan manufacturing some very famous items like saxophones used here along side Marshall amps they produced right out of this city during those days before moving production out to Orchard Heights MI where they still manufacture items today
