The town of Harper Woods, Michigan is located in the U.S. state of Michigan and it is part of the Wayne County municipality. The population was 5,914 as of the 2010 census. It lies on the mouth of the Huron River and it straddles its eastern border with Ottawa Township to the west. The town is named after James Harper, who bought land there in 1823. The first post office was established in 1824 and it remained in operation until 1906. The current post office was opened in 1907 by Fenton Mott, who served as its first clerk. The name Harper Woods comes from a settler named James Harper (1823-1893). He acquired 640 acres (247 hectares) of land east of Ottawa Township when he moved to Michigan from Ohio in 1827. In 1829, he built a log cabin on his property that still stands today. In 1830, he married Mary Auld and they started a family that would grow to include six children: Harpers Mills (1831-1906), James Auld Jr.(1832-1912), John Dickson(1835-1911), Anna Journell(1838-1920), Martha Jane(died before 1915) and Louisa May(died before 1926). They also operated a mill which produced flour, soapstone products and other items for local markets until it closed in 1906 due to economic conditions at the time. In 1834, Harper sold his mill site to Joseph Haggerty for $2M US$. Haggerty developed it into a small village called Harper Woods which eventually numbered over 100 residents during the late 19th century and early 20th century; many of whom were prominent landowners within Wayne County’s borders. His descendants continue to live within their boundaries today; some having donated portions or all of their holdings to various civic organizations withinHarper Woods or Ottawa Township over time! James Harper Sr., one of several families who resided withinHarper Woods throughout its history, played an important role within its community affairs during its formative years; serving as treasurer/managerial assistant for both Ottawa Township Board Of Education (established 1865) and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department twice during its early years! He also donated numerous pieces of property including 1 acre (0 hectare) near present day Joe Donahue Elementary School – now part of Campus Pointe United Methodist Church – as well as 2 parcels totaling 9 acres (3 ha) bordering downtown Harper Woods on Canada Road which became home to Tappan Zee High School beginning in 1984! Additionally, Mr./Ms. Harper graciously allowed us access to their extensive archives dating back more than 50 years providing invaluable insight into not only this historic community but also their parents’ prior experiences therein!

The next step in Rifle scopes history is the development of turrets and windage adjustment mechanisms. These devices allowed for greater accuracy and longer range when sighting in rifles.
For over a century, Harper Woods has been an important community in the town of Macomb. The community is located on the east side of Macomb County, Michigan and was established in 1853 by John Harper and his wife Jane. The Harteys were among the first settlers in what later became Harper Woods. In 1865, John Harper's children, James and Mary Harper moved to Harper Woods from as far away as Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The Harpers continued to live in their home until they passed away in 1938. John Harper's daughter Sarah married George Boggs in 1868 and they founded Boggs Ford on the west side of Macomb County. The couple had four children: Maria (1870-1944), George (1872-1941), Alice (1874-1964) andHarperwood Park was built on one of Sarah Boggs' farms within the boundaries of Harper Woods. The name "Boggs Ford" was derived from her husband's initials, GB. From 1903 to 1907, when it changed its name to "McCormick Motors", the company operated out of an old farmhouse at 158 Wabash Avenue which still stands today as the headquarters for McCormick & Company since 1923. In 1914, after years of development work by J P Dickenstall who also owned land adjacent to Harper Woods, construction began on what would become known as Dickenstall Park which included a large open lawn with gardens that extended all around it including into neighboring communities such as Hollandale and Westland Hills; this park served as a social center for people living close by while they awaited completion of their homes or made changes to them while staying inside their own houses during prohibition years because alcohol could not be bought or sold within city limits without breaking laws prohibiting sales to minors. Completed in 1924 however due primarily to public outcry following similar projects being constructed nearby but without any input from residents or involvement by local officials despite promises made at previous elections about taking care of things like having streetlights installed so that people would not have TO walk outside during night hours just TO get Alcohol - now THATS HARPERWOOD! The post-World War II period saw many changes take place within Macomb County with small towns like Harper Woods experiencing rapid growth thanks largely to oil production being located along Ionia Road just off US 6 between Sterling Heights and East Lansing no matter how much efforts may have been made by local officials à la Joe Blanton Jr., chairman United States Steel Corporation during those same years NOTHING WAS GOING TO STOP THE EXPANSION OF OIL COMPANIES IN MACOMB COUNTY AND THAT'S WHEN HARPERWOOD CAME INTO PLAY! Starting out slowly back then like everyone else until they REALLY got going!, Because there wasn't really anything else out there besides Oil rigs overnight!! When you add all these companies together it created some pretty big waves! And thats why we call Harperswood “The Largest Small town In Michigan” It didn’t start overnight either…
The Harper Woods area of Michigan was first settled in the 1800s. The town of Harper Woods was founded in 1824 by John Harper, a lumberman. The town grew rapidly and became an important center for logging and farming in the region. In 1868, the town was annexed by Lansing.
