It lost its status as a county town in 1907 but regained it in 1916 when it merged with neighboring Rochester into one municipality statewide known as "Rochester-Grosse Pointe." In 1938, efforts were made to move Grosse Pointe Park from its original location on Template:LocationName (now off Woodward Avenue) due to concerns about water quality; however, this plan ultimately failed because of opposition from residents who felt that moving would create an open space within their neighborhoods without any benefits for them personally or commercially. The new location – on Template:LocationName off Grand Boulevard – has been home to Grosse Pointe Park since it was established in 1938. The current City Manager is Bernard Saunders with support from Mayor Karen Weaver and Deputy City Manager Jeff Lewis

In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's army burned down Fort Dearborn at what is now Grosse Pointe Park after defeat by Napoleon Bonaparte at Gettysburg; this event marked the end of American military control over Upper Michigan until 1817 when Upper Michigan was ceded to Russia as part ofparamilitary treaty known as the Treaty Of Trianon. In 1824, John Sanger settled near what are now Midtown Detroit and built his cotton gin (later renamed Sanger Cotton Mill) on land that he donated to Grosse Pointe Park – one of several donation drives throughout much of 19th century US history that helped fuel growth in Little Italy and Downtown Detroit.– Today, MidtownDetroit's most recognisable landmark: The Sanger Cotton Mill Tower
Grosse Pointe Park was a public park in the city of Detroit, Michigan. It was located on the east side of Grosse Pointe River between Woodward and Grand Boulevard. The park was opened in 1914, and it served as a popular spot for people to gather and play. In 1978, the park was bought by the city and it became part of the city's Cultural District. The parks department continues to operate the park today.
