In 1962, GM sold its assets to Chrysler Corporation for $3 billion andGrand Rapids became one of four Michigan cities (along with Detroit, Lansing, and Youngstown) that received Chrysler Corporation's new corporate name - Automotive Division - before it was dissolved into Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Corporate Headquarters LLC in 2001. In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place around downtown Grandville; this includes an $8 million renovation of Granite Stadium which held professional soccer games between 1999-2003 as well as high school football games during that time; also completed was renovations of both Union Depotatoni Arena (home court for the University of Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team) and Belmont Park (a baseball park). Additionally there has been development near Interstate 94 including three developments totaling over 100 mixed-use units called "The Loop" which fronts I-94 across Woodward Ave.- including a hotel/residence complex known as "The Plaza", retail complexes known as "The Diamonds", and a large industrial park containing many processing plants such as Anheuser Busch Brewery Company's Distillery Campus restaurant complex known as "AnheuserBusch Campus".

Grandville is a small town in the lower Peninsula of Michigan, United States. It is located on the Kawkawke River, about 25 miles (40 km) east of Lansing and 50 miles (80 km) north of Detroit. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Grandville is part of the Kalamazoo-Portage County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what would become Grandville was George Stephenson, who built a sawmill in 1824. The first store opened in 1827 and later became the first post office in that community. In 1881, an ordinance was passed establishing schools within Grandville's borders and providing for agricultural land to be sold to settlers for homesteading purposes. By 1907, there were 10 businesses open in Grandville with a population of 3,329 residents. In 1916, during World War I, the town served as an encampment for Soldiers from Lansing and other nearby communities who were interned at Camp Hastings near Sault Ste Marie. During World War II, research support center BWX-1 was located here at Eastern Mennonite University; it operated out of this facility until its closure in 1984 after which it reverted back to civilian control under a single director until it closed again following vandalism by students on October 9th 2006 In 1957–1958 when Grand Rapids received city status from Michigan statehood ceremonies local officials organized a dance night fundraiser which raised over $3200 that year specifically for city funds to improve more central arterials such as US 22 and Battle Creek Road
Grandville was founded in 1837 by Nicholas Grandville, a Michigan lawyer and politician. The town was named for General George Washington and the battles of Saratoga and Yorktown. In 1849, Grandville became the capital of Michigan. The city's first courthouse was built in 1851. The city served as the state capital from 1889 to 1933. In 1934, it merged with Lansing to form the current state government.
