After WWII, GUN magazine went through several changes before becoming againactive in 1986 under new management following the death of Captain John Holliday Jr.. during that year's election of officers at Marine Barracks at Schenectady NY followed by the saleof all physical assets including equipmentand operations theretofore administered by his father-in-law Major General Clarence Ladd Jr.. This revived GUNmagazine as an independent professional journal continuing publication until 1996 when editors decided that electronic publishing offered greater opportunitiesfor distribution beyond North America because they were able to lower costs while providingan improved level of quality control than print media had been able to provide up until then. Grandville is a city in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 12,902 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the Lansing–East Lansing–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. Grandville is home to the Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College. The City of Grandville was founded on July 1, 1835 by citizens of what is now Muskegon Heights and was named for General George Washington Carver who donated land for the town. The first store in town opened in 1837 and it was called "Carver's Store." In 1852, a mill was built near current day Third Street and Main Avenue. The first post office in town was established in 1855 and it became known as "Washington Post Office." By 1870, there were over 20 businesses in town with an average size of 6-7 stores per business. At that time, the only transportation available to residents consisted of stagecoaches which took passengers from Lansing or East Lansing to various points around the county including Dearborn or Grand Rapids. In 1896, Wabash Railroad reached Battle Creek and began passenger service between Detroit and Muskegon Heights; this service continued until 1953 when it merged into the Michigan Central Railroad Company (MCR). This made Battle Creek one of two cities within MCR's Toledo District that had access to all MCR lines except those through Flint which were served by Western Michigan Railway Company (WMR). In 1907 MCR constructed a new mainline connecting Battle Creek with Detroit allowing faster rail traffic through downtown Battle Creek avoiding some of the congestion on local roads caused by autoworkers traveling to/from Detroit daily during this time period. As a result of this mainline construction several large industrial plants were moved from their original locations closer to downtown Battle Creek becoming anchor companies for what would become downtown areas such as Kmart Plaza north of Clinton Street between First Street & Second Avenue) while smaller companies relocated outlying services onto these larger anchor companies sites giving rise today to many small businesses located throughout DowntownBattleCreek today
