The first people to settle in what is now Grandville were Germans who came from northern Germany before moving down the Kawkawke River into what is now Muskegon County. In 1825, they built a log cabin on what is today's corner street in town. They named their settlement "Grandville" after George Washington's birthplace, Mount Vernon. In 1840, when Wayne County was established, Grandville became part of it and continued to be called Wayne County seat until 1898 when it reverted back to Grandville under state law as per the original platting order issued by the State Legislature on December 12, 1824. Most residents in Grandville have ancestry from Germany or other Northern European countries that settled here during or after World War I; however some residents have roots dating back to pre-colonial Native American groups such as the Huron Indians who lived near present-day Hollandale Township before being displaced by Europeans in 1671 AD/8 BC according to one theory[1]. There are few African Americans living in Grand Rapids proper although many immigrants brought slaves here during their crossing over into this country.[2] A large percentage (at least 80%)[3]of all businesses found within walking distance of any major city center are owned or operated by white citizens primarily employed therein as commercial farmers/fishers; very few black citizens live within 500 feet (150 m) radius either side of downtown core where most services take place.[4] notwithstanding recent high crime rates which have caused displacement among minority populations,[5],[6], overall life satisfaction levels remain relatively high despite some challenges faced by all groupings including those considered traditionally disadvantaged: low income homeownership rates (%) due largely to lack...

Grandville is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, on the Grand River near its confluence with the Huron River. The population was 34,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing-Warren metropolitan area and is served by Grand Rapids Metropolitan Airport. In 1925, construction began on what would become what is now Midtown Park—the largest shopping mall east of Chicago—and Storer Boulevard (later State Road 5) will be named after Wm Sothern Stores Inc., founder of Regal Cinemas chain across North America which opened its doors there on November 15th 1957 just before Christmas Eve 1957 – making this also one of only two malls open during Thanksgiving week throughout history (the other being Memphis TN's FedEx Forum). The 1966 murder trial of Drury Lane killer John Wayne Gacy took place here from October 10-12th followed by his execution from November 16th through early December 1966 at Midtown Park Hannover Center located just north of Interstate 94 between I-94Exit 191 and Exit 193 off US 131/I-94 exit 192 following Gacy's capture from floor level observation inside his alibi protected room number 208A at Illinois Central Railroad Station four blocks south westward from where he had been observed entering and exiting his car parked next to Illinois Central train tracks leading east outbound onto I-94 outside Little Rock AR
